Additionally, the awarded contractor shall provide wide access to self-paced learning/training portal for designing and printing composite parts.

2.0 Objective:

The objective of this purchase contract is to acquire a large format industrial 3D printer to prototype rapid response parts precisely and efficiently to produce components for developmental flight test. The 3D printer will afford rapid response to emerging technologies and reduce down time and schedule for developmental flight test. The 3D printer will support manufacturing, modifying, and maintaining flight test aircraft and programs.

3.0 Technical Requirements:

3.1 The 3D printer must possess the following features and specifications:

3.1.1. The offeror’s proposal must address, each of the following features and capabilities enumerated below and listed in the 3D printer Specifications table following. The proposal must address each by either stating the proposed system’s specification or by narrative description. Note that a blanket statement that the proposed solution meets the technical requirements listed in the solicitation is insufficient.

3.1.2. Mechanical Instrumentation Branch (MIB) currently houses and utilizes a Markforged X7 3D printer for generating flight test components and other prototyping needs. As such, MIB has a considerable amount of consumables and replaceable parts that must be interchangeable with a new printer to reduce maintenance cost, replacement part turnaround, and operational needs of the printer.

3.1.2.1 The 3D printer must be able to utilize nylon with micro carbon fibers filament as a standard product.

3.1.2.2 The 3D printer must be able to utilize fire retardant nylon with micro carbon fibers filament.

3.1.2.3 The 3D printer must be able to utilize Electrostatic discharge nylon with micro carbon fibers filament.

3.1.2.4 The 3D printer must be able to utilize Smooth TPU 95A filament.

3.1.2.5 The 3D printer must be able to utilize Precise PLA filament.

3.1.2.6 The 3D printer must contain active print calibration and adaptive laser bed leveling.

3.1.2.7 The 3D printer must be compatible to run on Digital Forge Essentials software and be approved to run on Navy IT Networked Systems.

3.1.2.8 The 3D printer must have a build volume of at least 330 x 270 x 200 mm.
