About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center seeking market research for a Team Awareness Kit for Interior Server (TAK-I Server) solution. The RFI targets cloud-based server options, specifically seeking responses about fully managed service or cloud hosting approaches that can meet FedRAMP and FISMA High standards. DOI is particularly interested in understanding the advantages, disadvantages, implementation strategies, operational management, and cost implications of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) models.

Key details include a response deadline of April 22, 2025 at 1 PM Washington, D.C. time, with submissions to be emailed to Contracting Officer Matthew Mosellen and Contract Specialist Maura Donovan. The government plans to issue a solicitation for TAK-I from authorized resellers in Fiscal Year 2025, with projected solicitation and award timing during that period. This is a sources sought notice for market research purposes only, and respondents are advised that no contract will be awarded based on this RFI. The ultimate goal is to enhance DOI's Office of Wildland Fire operational capabilities through an advanced, reliable cloud-based server solution.

This Request for Information (RFI) is being issued by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Interior Business Center (IBC), Acquisition Services Directorate (AQD), on behalf of DOI, the Office of Wildland Fire (OWF).

RFI Purpose:

This RFI is a market survey for written responses with information to identify potential sources for DOI/OWF to enhance its operational capabilities by establishing a Team Awareness Kit for Interior Server (TAK-I Server) through either a fully managed service model or a more conventional cloud hosting solution.

As part of this initiative, DOI seeks to engage with industry stakeholders to gain insights into the advantages and disadvantages of various options, including their respective implementations, operational management, and support structures. A particular focus will be placed on understanding the cost implications associated with each approach as an order-of-magnitude comparison. Additionally, DOI is open to exploring innovative hybrid solutions that leverage the strengths of both Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) models. Respondents are encouraged to provide balance SaaS and PaaS approaches as they see fit to meet DOI/OWF’s requirement.

Ultimately, the goal is to achieve a cloud-based TAK Server that adheres to FedRAMP and capabilities consistent with Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) High standards, ensuring high availability and reliability while enhancing situational awareness capabilities across the Department. Through this dialogue, DOI aims to identify the most effective strategies and technological innovations available to fulfill its mission.

This RFI requests responses from all qualified firms.
