Project Description:

Project Conditions (see samples below, tailor/add/delete per project - work with PM/PS, note any logistical/cultural/historic considerations here):

The project is located at The National Mall, Washington D.C.

The construction magnitude is $5,000,000 to $10,000,000 - mandatory.

The surrounding area is urban with limited staging located to the southeast corner of the Thomas Jefferson

Memorial.

Background checks and daily security screening of construction personnel and material deliveries is required.

The Park will remain open during construction, thus contract activities and logistics must be structured and scheduled to minimize visitor impact. However, construction will be split into two phases for the lower level of the Memorial.

Temporary restrooms, bookstore, and access to the chamber level of the Memorial will be provided during construction.

The site requires protective measures to ensure the surrounding area remains undisturbed and the Memorial is protected.

The structure is a national monument and memorial.

The anticipated period of performance of 730 calendar days including any potential weather shutdown.

Winter construction is required.

Project Scope:

Reconfigure the lower level space for an enhanced visitor experience and use. This includes all the lower level programs as follows – access from exterior, exhibit space, restrooms, bookstore, support utilities, and aesthetics. Total square footage of space is 5,196 sf in the lower level and 420 sf in the portico level. Items to note as part of the required work are:

• Reconfigure restrooms to reduce noise in the exhibit space, meet accessibility and other code requirements, and potentially provide different opportunities for entry.

• Combine bookstore and gift shop into one store for visitors to purchase merchandise.

• Reconfigure circulation through lower level to elevator and other spaces that does not cross over exhibit space.

• Update the finishes of both the lower level and portico level spaces.

• Upgrade and expand utilities (electrical, fire suppression, mechanical, etc.) to new visitor spaces to support visitor use and exhibits.

o Replacement of the entire fire alarm system integrated throughout the Memorial, with fire suppression expanded only within the new exhibit areas o Upgrade physical security components and related sub-components

• Increase accessibility by adding two accessible walkways on the exterior leading to the lower level entrances
