About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for performing annual inspections, long-term storage, and anti-corrosion maintenance on reduction gears for the USNS Brunswick and USNS Newport vessels. The work is part of solicitation N3220525Q2286 issued by the Department of the Navy Military Sealift Command, with a performance period from April 28 to May 09, 2025, located in Orange, Texas.
The SOW requires an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) authorized field service representative to conduct specific maintenance procedures on four reduction gears per ship, including inspecting hardware, cleaning oil filters, and visually examining clutch discs and gears. The maintenance must follow ZF Marine Propulsion Systems' guidelines, involving draining and refilling transmission with corrosion protection oil, operating the engine in a specific configuration, and protecting steel parts against corrosion. A detailed condition report must be submitted after inspection, with potential technical support from Richard Bowles of ZF Marine Propulsion Systems. The contract is fixed-price and emphasizes using only OEM-authorized or MSC-qualified technical providers for this ship critical safety item.
