National Park Service, Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, Technical Specifications Attachment
BRAND NAME OR EQUAL WITH SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
RPM Tech RPM220 Loader mounted snowblower
The desired snow-blower attachment MUST connect to a 2021 Volvo L110h Wheeled Loader
Suggested Manufacturer, Point of Contact Information:
The RPM Tech Group, RPM 220 self-contained loader mounted snowblower is known to meet this requirement. To qualify for consideration, either Brand Name or as an Or Equal product, meeting each of the following Salient Characteristics shall be met or bettered. The attachment package shall be delivered to Glacier Bay National Park, Port of Gustavus Alaska.
1. Equipment Salient Characteristics
1.1. General Characteristics
1.1.1. Unit shall be fully contained with the following features, fully compatible with and ready to couple to and operate on a 2021 Volvo L110Hwheeled loader
1.1.2. Unit shall have a diesel engine of no less than 300 horsepower
1.1.3. Unit shall be a two-stage type design
1.1.4. Unit shall have two serrated augers at approx 20” diameter
1.1.5. Unit shall have a truck loading chute
1.1.6. Unit shall have plastic or rubber vibration isolation mounts on critical components
1.1.7. Unit shall be capable of arduous duty for prolonged periods of time without deformation or failure, in temperature down to approx. 40f
1.1.8. Unit shall have a fully welded, one piece undercarriage frame without hinges and bolted together sections.
1.2. Capacity
1.2.1. Capable of blowing minimum 3000 tons per hour in ideal conditions
1.2.2. Casting distance of at least 150 ft in ideal conditions
1.2.3. Capable of casting from telescopic chute or direct from impeller casing
1.3. Dimensions and Weight
1.3.1. Overall weight fully fueled shall be 9000-11,000 pounds
1.3.2. Overall width shall be 9-10 feet
1.3.3. Working height shall be 48-56 inches
1.3.4. Truck loading chute shall be compatible with a truck bed rail height of 108-120”
1.4. Blades and Skid Pads
1.4.1. Unit shall have replaceable wear skid shoes on both sides to protect unit from curbs
1.4.2. Unit shall have a minimum of approx. 600 square inches of Trimay steel skid shoes under the frame
1.4.3. Unit shall have approx. 1” thick reversible carbide scraper blades across the full width of the intake
1.4.4. Blades and skid pads shall be field replaceable
1.5. Steering Vanes
1.5.1. Steering vanes shall be fixed and bolted
1.5.2. Steering vanes shall be field replaceable
1.6. Telescopic Loading Chute
1.6.1. Chute shall be approx. 16-inch diameter
1.6.2. Chute shall be fully remote controlled
1.6.3. Chute shall be constructed of QT400 grade steel of a minimum approx. 3/16-inch thickness
1.6.4. Chute shall have the ability to cast left, right or ahead over a minimum of 300 degrees rotation through remotely controlled, hydraulically operated, precision adjustments
1.6.5. Chute shall have a vertical extension allowing projection from an adjustable height from 136-152 inches minimum through remotely controlled, hydraulically operated, precision adjustments
1.6.6. Chute shall have the ability to cast from 4-48 feet through remotely controlled, hydraulically operated precision adjustments
1.7. Impeller and Casing
1.7.1. Impeller diameter shall be 36-40 inches
1.7.2. Impeller shall have bolted-on, field replaceable blades of minimum ¼ inch CHT100 steel
1.7.3. Impeller intake casing shall allow unrestricted flow of snow
1.7.4. Impeller casing depth shall be a minimum of 13 inches
1.7.5. Impeller casing volume shall be a minimum of 70 US gallons
1.7.6. Impeller casing shall be made of a minimum ¼ inch CHT100 steel
1.7.7. Impeller casing shall be bolted-on and field replaceable
1.7.8. Impeller casing shall have a minimum of 140-degree rotation through remotely controlled, hydraulically operated adjustment, allowing direct left or right hand discharge
1.8. Augers
1.8.1. Unit shall contain identical, interchangeable augers
1.8.2. Augers shall be welded one-piece type
1.8.3. Augers shall be 18-22 inches in diameter
1.8.4. Augers shall be constructed of CHT100 grade steel of a minimum ¼ inch thickness, fully welded to a minimum ½ inch wall thickness tube structure.
1.8.5. Augers shall be serrated and pre-drilled for field replaceable, bolt-on ice breakers
1.8.6. A field replaceable, bolt-on rubber deflector shall be installed on the top of the auger housing to minimize debris kickback.
1.9. Diesel Engine
1.9.1. Caterpillar C7 or equal, EPA tier 4 emission, minimum 300 hp @2200 rpm, 900 lb-ft @ 1400 rpm
1.9.2. Engine shall be audited and approved by the manufacturer for this application
1.9.3. Alternator shall be 100 amp minimum
1.9.4. Radiator shall be fitted with a removeable blanket to enhance temperature control in extreme cold conditions
1.9.5. Radiator shall have a minimum replacement interval of 5 years or 10,000 hrs
1.9.6. Air filter shall be two stage and equipped with a restriction indicator
1.9.7. Engine, DEF tank and all systems shall be equipped with 110VAC powered auxiliary heaters to ensure reliable starting down -40f
1.9.8. Engine shall be equipped with protection systems for low oil pressure, high temperature and low-DEF level
1.10. Fuel System
1.10.1. Integrated fuel tank shall have a minimum of 70 US gallons and allow for a minimum of 8 hours of continuous operation
1.10.2. Fuel tank shall have a level indicating gauge
1.10.3. Unit shall be equipped with a primary, water separating fuel filter with water-in-fuel indicator and field replaceable filter element
1.10.4. Unit shall be equipped with a secondary fuel filter with field replaceable element
1.11. Electrical System
1.11.1. 12-volt dc
1.11.2. 2 12-volt batteries, minimum type 31-2250 CCA capacity
1.11.3. Electrical components shall be in weatherproof housings
1.11.4. Electrical circuits shall be protected by circuit breakers
1.11.5. Relays and breakers shall be clearly labeled
1.11.6. If equipped with wired controls, all connections must be fully weatherproof
1.12. Hydraulic System
1.12.1. Pump shall be directly mounted to the engine auxiliary drive
1.12.2. Pump shall be a minimum of 6 GPM
1.12.3. Valves shall be electrohydraulic monoblock type
1.12.4. Hoses shall be SAE type 100R2
1.12.5. System shall be equipped with a field replaceable 10-micron filter minimum
1.12.6. Hydraulic fluid tank shall have a minimum capacity of 2 US gallons and be equipped with a level gauge
1.13. Clutch
1.13.1. Clutch shall be remotely controlled and hydraulically actuated
1.13.2. Safety system shall prevent clutch engagement unless engine is at idle
1.13.3. Safety system shall prevent engine start-up when clutch is engaged
1.13.4. Safety system shall alert operator if hydraulic actuation mechanism is not in the proper position during operation
1.13.5. Clutch shall have a manual emergency engagement mechanism to allow operation in the event of hydraulic failure
1.14. Transmission
1.14.1. Impeller and augers shall be powered through belt driven gear boxes
1.14.2. Belts shall be a minimum of 68mm wide and of a toothed type to minimize slippage
1.14.3. Belts shall be made of polyurethane with carbon tensile cords, teeth shall be covered with a nylon fabric
1.14.4. Belts shall be suitable for temperatures from -40f to +50f
1.14.5. Belt tension shall be fully adjustable
1.14.6. Shear bolts shall be utilized to protect the rotating assemblies
1.14.7. Shear bolts shall be utilized between the engine and gearboxes
1.14.8. Shear bolts shall be utilized between the gearbox and impeller
1.14.9. Shear bolts shall be utilized between the gearbox and augers
1.14.10. Shear bolts shall be readily accessible and field replaceable
1.15. Wireless Control System
1.15.1. 7-inch high resolution LCD display minimum
1.15.2. Joystick control
1.15.3. 12-volt system
1.15.4. Monitors all critical engine functions and alerts operator to alarm conditions from inside the cab, including voltage, oil pressure, temperature, fuel level, operating hours and visual and audible alarms.
1.15.5. Provides full control of all machine functions, including engine start-up, emergency shutdown, and all hydraulic functions and operational adjustments.
1.15.6. Controls chute deflector and rotation
1.15.7. Controls engine throttle
1.15.8. Controls clutch engagement
1.15.9. Controls impeller casing rotation
1.15.10. Controls chute extension
1.15.11. Stored engine codes accessible directly on LCD display
1.15.12. Emergency stop in cab and on the blower unit
1.16. Training
1.16.1. Manufacturer or their representative to provide training, on site, for operators and equipment maintenance staff for a period of at least 6 hours.
1.17. Warranty
1.17.1. The snowblower shall be covered by a 1 year or 1500 hour warranty, including parts and labor
1.17.2. The transmission shall be covered by a 2 year warranty, including parts and labor
1.17.3. The engine shall be covered by a 2 year or 3000 hour warranty by the engine manufacturer
2. Manuals: One copy each of operator’s, service and parts manuals for tractor as well as boom mower attachment shall be shipped to the delivery address at the time of purchase. Electronic, web based or paper are acceptable.
3. Shipping and Delivery:
Entire package shall be prepped for barge or overland shipment. Entire unit shall be processed for storage prior to shipment. Complete FOB shipping address shall be to: The National Park Service, Glacier Bay National Park, 140 Park Road, Gustavus AK 99826. FOB Delivery shall be completed no more than 270 days from the date of award, or no later than March 1, 2024.
