About this file

This document is a specification sheet for customized Lake Trout Sinking Gillnets to be used by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for Lake Trout gamete collection in Lake Superior. The gillnets have specific technical requirements, including an overall length of 1200 ft, 210/2 Multifilament gillnetting, 8-4 panels measuring 300 ft long x 6 ft deep, and multiple mesh bar sizes ranging from 1" to 3-½" square and stretch mesh. The nets will be used to collect Lake Trout gametes from Klondike Reef to construct brood stock strains for stocking across the Great Lakes in 2025, with the goal of achieving genetic diversity.

Delivery specifications require the contractor to pack, mark, and deliver the gillnets to the Ashland Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Ashland, Wisconsin. The technical point of contact is Mike Seider, and contractors must contact him at least three days prior to delivery to arrange a specific delivery time. The delivery carrier is responsible for unloading the supplies, with no government-provided labor or equipment. The specification sheet provides detailed instructions on net characteristics, mesh configurations, twine diameter, hanging ratio, float line, and lead line specifications to ensure precise requirements for the gillnet production.
