About this file
These engineering design documents are for the rehabilitation of the Aquarium Entrance Road at the Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery in South Dakota. The technical drawings include a site plan, vicinity map, and detailed cross-sections specifying full depth reclamation road construction techniques. Key specifications include pulverizing existing pavement to a 7-inch depth, placing 4-inch asphalt concrete pavement in two lifts with tack coat between layers, and constructing foreslopes at a 1:4 or flatter grade. The project notes indicate work must be completed by Labor Day (September 2, 2025), with access maintained for government staff and residents. The construction limits cover the entrance road from W 8th Street, with a separate aquarium parking area noted as "not in contract".
The design documents are part of a pre-solicitation (Solicitation Number: 140FGA25Q0030) by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service for road rehabilitation. The drawings provide technical details for contractors, including notes that existing pavement and base course depths are approximate, dimensions may be varied by the Contracting Officer (CO), and special considerations for slope and surface treatments. The project drawings are prepared by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Region 6, with design details marked as "no scale" but providing precise engineering specifications for road reconstruction.
