About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the Winiger Ridge Dispersed Campsite Renovations project issued by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region 2. The project involves the procurement and installation of picnic tables and bear-resistant storage boxes at five existing dispersed campsites (campsites 1-5) located along NFSR 359.1 and 359.1A on the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest and Pawnee National Grassland in Colorado. The objective is to enhance recreation opportunities in the dispersed camping area by providing upgraded facilities.
The contractor must purchase and install concrete picnic tables and bear boxes at locations pre-staked by Forest Service staff. Picnic tables must feature concrete bases with three 3"x12"x10' rough-sawn wood planks, constructed with #4 steel reinforcement (1.5" minimum cover), achieving 5,000 psi compressive strength at 28 days, and designed to withstand 500 lbs/ft² snow loads. Tables must use "Davis's Western Gold" integral-colored concrete or approved equivalent, with powder-coated flat black exposed steel and wood surfaces stained with Olympic Semi-transparent stain in oxford brown. Bear boxes must be Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) certified and constructed of 14-gauge corrosion-resistant powder-coated steel with dimensions of 48"W x 40"H x 29"L, featuring zinc-coated hardware and stainless steel piano hinges. Each bear box requires installation on a 58"x40"x4" concrete footing with embedded half-inch j-bolts. All items must be delivered and installed by September 30, 2026, with no government-furnished items. Any issues arising during installation must be communicated to Forest Service staff.
