About this file
This is a Statement of Work for structural repair services at Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery, located at 7030 Bears Bluff Road, Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina 29487.
The contractor shall install ten new marine-grade treated pilings alongside damaged pilings on two catwalks in a "sistered" arrangement. The pilings must be 12-inch butt 2.5 CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) marine-grade treated pilings, driven to a minimum depth of 10 feet below ground, with distances from ground to piling tops ranging from approximately 14 to 16 feet. All existing pilings remain in place. The contractor is responsible for measuring and recording all site metrics, determining piling lengths accordingly, and conducting a site visit to gather necessary information for bidding. New pilings shall be connected to existing pilings using SAE 316 stainless steel grade hardware and sixteen new 3-inch by 8-inch, 0.60 CCA header boards spanning across the new pilings with 5/8-inch all-thread rods. Each set of eight piling pairs requires a minimum of two header boards, two threaded rods, four flat washers, four lock washers, and four nuts, all SAE 316 stainless steel or higher grade. The contractor is responsible for removal and replacement of any dock materials that must be removed to drive pilings and is liable for damage to existing materials. All work must comply with applicable local, state, and federal codes; trash disposal is the contractor's responsibility. Work restrictions include no fishing, swimming, or weekend work, with advance scheduling required for hours outside normal operation. The on-site point of contact is James Henne at 843-559-2315 or James_Henne@fws.gov. Contractors must submit any recommended deviations from the SOW with their quote for Contracting Officer review; absent noted deviations, all specifications will be met or exceeded at the quoted price.

All stainless hardware, including threaded rods, nuts, and washers, must be SAE 316 stainless steel grade hardware or higher for prolonged contact with marine salt water.
• Each set of eight sets of pilings will require a minimum of two header boards, two threaded rods, four flat washers, four lock washers, and four nuts (material specifications called out above).
• All work must be completed following all applicable local, state, and federal code requirements.
• Haul off/dispose of any trash resulting from this work.
