Performance Based Statement of Work Replacement of Water Well #16 Pump and Accessories. SAMMS ASSET 10021754 230 Bald Eagle Drive Patuxent Research Refuge – Laurel, MD 20742

General Information Introduction Patuxent Research Refuge (PRR) is in Laurel MD. The refuge is a unit of the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Wildlife Refuge System. This statement of work requires a certified well drilling company to repair and disinfect water well #16 which provides water to the North Tract Visitor Contact station. Undetected continuous pumping resulted in the motor start capacitor failing. The pump, when energized, continues to cycle on at approximately 42 PSI and off at 62 PSI, per the gauge installed at the bladder tank. The loss of pressure, which occurs without demand is attributed to failure of the check valve installed in the casing. The well was completed on 4/1/1992, the manufacturers date on the pitless adapter is 1990. We believe the well pump is the same unit originally installed in 1992.

The government needs to have a new ¾ HP 2300 stainless steel Schaefer pump or equivalent, a 4” x 1 ¼” pitless head unit, A new 4” PVC well cap, approximately 220 feet of #12-2 pump wire, 220 feet of 1” 160 PSI polyethylene pipe or tubing. The well must be disinfected prior to being placed back in service.
