STATEMENT OF WORK
DELIVERY OF WATER CONTROL STRUCTURES AND MATERIALS TO SAN LUIS
NWR
1. GENERAL: The contractor will manufacture and/or procure and deliver pre-cast concrete water control weirs with pipe stubs, pre cast solid wall water control weirs for installation as headwalls, weir boards, pipe and couplers to various locations of the San Luis NWR. Specific materials requirements are provided in Section 2 and again in Appendix A.
2. SCOPE:
A. QUALITY CONTROL
All workmanship and materials furnished and supplied under this specification are subject to inspection by the project technical coordinator and site foreman including all operations from the selection and production of materials through to final acceptance of delivered materials. The technical coordinator reserves the right to reject any materials which are not in accordance with the requirements of this specification.
B. SPECIFICATIONS

B.02 PRECAST CONCRETE WATER CONTROL STRUCTURES
Precast concrete weir (riser) structures shall conform to the sizes and dimensions as listed above.
Precast concrete weirs shall have two (twin) weir bays for stop logs. Each structure shall have a minimum 5-foot-long stub of pipe cast into the structure with the type and dimension equal to that of the attached pipe as specified in Section 2 and Appendix A.
The end of the pipe stub to be cast into the concrete structure shall be cut even and square, and set flush with the face of concrete. Structures shall have the pipe cast such that the invert is at or near the structure flowline. The surface of pipe to be embedded into concrete shall be clean of oils, dirt, and loose debris prior to being cast into the structure. All structures shall be manufactured by Machado Backhoe Inc, Briggs Manufacturing, or approved equal.
B.03 WOOD STOPLOGS/WEIR BOARDS
A complete set of stoplog boards shall be supplied for each structure cast with a pipe stub. Each board will be cut to fit individual structures including a 3/8-inch clearance on each end to allow for swelling when wet. Stoplogs shall be 2x6 rough cut (full 2 inch thickness) redwood. Wood stoplogs shall be free of knots or knotholes.
B.04 HDPE PIPE
Water tight HDPE (high density polyethylene) pipe shall be of the nominal size indicated in the project description sheet. The pipe shall be profile wall (corrugated) with a smooth interior and meet the requirements of ASTM F2648 or F2306, and ASTM D3350.
B.05 HDPE PIPE COUPLERS
Couplers for HDPE pipe necessary to complete installation in addition to the integral bell and spigot joints shall be Mar Mac Products “Polyseal” couplers and plastic slip coupler that can be secured via provided zip ties.
3. PLACE OF DELIVERY AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:
Deliveries will be to locations within the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge, Los Banos, CA 93645. Period of performance is from April 15th, 2022 – July 15th, 2022. Weirs may be delivered in a batch or on a progress payment basis.
