About this file

This file contains detailed technical specifications for a Compound Microscope (Olympus BX53) with phase contrast and fluorescent capabilities required by the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) facility in Houma, Louisiana. The specifications document outlines the precise instrumental requirements needed for investigating infection mechanisms using fluorescent protein-tagged fungal and bacterial pathogens in sugarcane, as well as for routine disease diagnosis and pathogen morphology study. The Olympus BX53 from Evident/Olympus has been identified as the only known configuration meeting these specific technical requirements, which are critical for daily laboratory operations and essential for preventing disease establishment and developing disease management strategies that support the sugarcane industry.
