STATEMENT OF WORK
Repair of Merced NWR Well P-17 and Analysis of Well P-13 for U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service
San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex
1. GENERAL
Well P-17 was constructed in 1950’s. In 2019, a contractor pulled the well, and replaced the impeller and other components. The well has continued to pump sand, and has experienced a significant drop in soils under the concrete well pad. This well is mission critical to keep and maintain wetland habitats of Merced NWR and provide the ability to grow depredation mitigation crops on Merced NWR farm fields; as well as provide outdoor recreation opportunities to the public.
2. SCOPE
The well should be pulled, and the well shaft should be analyzed by video. The 2019 analysis will be provided for comparison. The soil subsidence under the well pad should be mitigated.
All well components including impellers, bowls, shafts, motor head, discharge pipes, flow meters and hour meters should be inspected, calibrated, replaced or repaired. All activities will be performed with due diligence; efficiently and with the requisite expertise, skill, and competence.
Modifications to the P-17 discharge pipe to couple with an adjacent shallow well discharge may be considered under this contract.
Optional Line Item #1: Technical inspection and issuance of the repair estimate for well P-13 at Merced NWR. Removal and inspection of the motor head and analysis of the shafts, impellers, bowls and other components will be required.
