1. GENERAL
This project is for the removal and replacement of the existing bunkhouse Heat Pump with Heat Recovery System at the Newport Headquarters of the Oregon Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex and the Ecological Services Oregon Coastal Division in Newport, OR. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service owns and operates the facility located at 2125 SE Marine Science Drive, Newport, OR 97365. The Headquarters office building is a critical facility to the operations of the refuge and ecological services. The facility provides office space for 10 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff, interns and visiting researchers, enabling them to conduct work in direct support of refuge goals and objectives. Maintaining the Heat Pump in the facility is critical for the comfort of office occupants and for the long-term maintenance of the building. The current Heat Pump installed in 2012, has been diagnosed with a broken coil in an air handler that currently uses refrigerant no longer allowed in the state of Oregon.
The air handler and inside components are functional, but the outdoor system is not providing heat to the facility. Replacement of the outdoor components of the system is required to bring heat back to the facility.
