About this file
This is a Statement of Work for rehabilitating the fire suppression system at D.C. Booth National Fish Hatchery's Administration and Archives Building in Spearfish, SD (PR Number: 0044005466). The work is urgently needed after the building's boiler failed in December 2023 and extreme cold temperatures (-32°F) caused the fire suppression system to freeze and sustain damage in January 2024. Testing revealed the sprinkler water seal assembly is not functioning properly at required pressure levels.
The contractor must be licensed and certified in South Dakota for fire suppression system work and will repair/replace all necessary components of the sprinkler water seal assembly to make the system fully operational and compliant with regulations. Work must be performed during normal business hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday-Friday) at 423 Hatchery Circle, Spearfish, SD. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will provide restrooms, electricity, and water during the work. Project completion timeline is listed as "as soon as possible" due to fire vulnerability. Government acceptance is contingent upon U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service representatives determining the work meets requirements.
