1.1 Location of Facilities
The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center is located just west of Las Vegas, NV. It is situated off State Route 159 (SR-159) approximately 5.25 miles west of the Bruce Woodbury Beltway. Section 4.0 of this Statement of Work shows a map to the site. The facilities covered under this Statement of Work are located at the Red Rock Canyon NCA Visitor Center.
1.2 Short Description of Required Services
The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA) is one of the largest and most popular visitor destinations within the Bureau of Land Management. Red Rock is known for its 3 million visitors a year, is recognized for its 13-mile scenic drive, and hiking trails. The main destination for most visitors is the Red Rock Visitor’s Center, which includes exhibits and restrooms that are open to the public year-round. Due to ever-growing visitation across the RRCNCA, the BLM places a high priority on providing working facilities and the hygiene and safety of all employees, partners, and the visiting public.
While the septic and sewage system at our Visitor Center is adequate to support the amount of visitation, it is a fragile system with many moving parts. On a regular basis service of portable toilets is needed due to septic outages, overuse, pump failures (septic or water) and other sometimes emergent problems. The BLM has identified the need to set up a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Porta Potties or portable toilet units for emergency usage and high visitation times to accommodate visitors and BLM Employees. The high-use period is from October to April with a possible need in the summer and less visited months.
