Scope of Work for Building Electrical Upgrades at Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery

General Project Overview:

• Project Location: Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery

• Address: 11110 Kimages Rd Charles City, VA 23030

• Client: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

• Total Scope: Electrical upgrades, replacements, and installations across 3 buildings (J, L, K), and exterior lighting installations for carport and pole shed.

Note: All materials and supplies required for the completion of the work will be provided by the contractor, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the scope of work.

Building J - Real Property Inventory Number: 10020305

Electrical Work:

1. Electrical Disconnect Relocation:

o Relocate the existing electrical disconnect to the side of the building (see Figure 1 and Figure 2).

o The current disconnect is mounted on a 4 by 4 post located 20 feet from the building.

o Install the new disconnect on the side of the building, with an overcurrent protection device.

o A traffic-rated Quazite box will replace the existing post where the disconnect is currently located.

o If any splicing is required during installation, it will comply with the 2020 NEC

Code.

2. Electrical Panel Replacement:

o Replace the existing electrical panel with a new Square D 200-amp service panel (Figure 3).

o Install an overcurrent protection device as a means of disconnect for the new panel.

3. Conduit and Wiring:

o Install all new conduit raceways, wiring, and devices to meet the updated electrical needs of the building.

o The new layout will mimic the existing building's configuration for consistency.

o All new outlets will be equipped with proper GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit

Interrupter) protection to ensure safety and code compliance.

4. Drop-Down Corded Receptacles:

o Install drop-down corded receptacles on the three middle beams (beam is shown in Figure 4 and similar drop down cords shown in Figure 5) of the building.

o The three middle beams will have the following receptacle configuration:

4 x 120V dual corded receptacles on each of the three beams.

1 x 240V single corded receptacle on each of the three beams.

o One of the beams is currently wired with outlets, but all three beams will be updated to meet the desired specifications.

5. Lighting Upgrades:

o Reuse the existing 9, 4-foot fluorescent light fixtures that have been converted to

LED tube lights.

o Install 1 new 4-foot LED light fixture above the utility sink, provided by the hatchery.

6. Lighting Control:

o The current lighting is wired through a mechanical water heater timer switch, which will be removed.

o Install 2 new 3-way switches to control the building’s interior lighting.

o The switch locations will be determined by the hatchery staff prior to the project.

7. Exterior LED Wall Pack Light Replacement:

o Remove and relocate the existing 2 exterior lights above each garage bay door.

o The lights will be relocated so they are positioned directly over the garage doors for proper illumination.

o Install new LED wall pack lights with photocells in place of the relocated fixtures to ensure adequate illumination and meet weatherproof standards for outdoor use.

8. Code Compliance:

o All electrical work will be completed in accordance with the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC).

Carport (Adjacent to Building J)

1. Exterior Lighting and Outlet:

o Install 2 exterior-rated lights and switch in the carport, ensuring adequate illumination for the area (Carport picture see Figure 6).

o Install 1 120V quad outlet (4 outlets) for future power needs.

Building L - Real Property Inventory Number: 10055322

1. Emergency Exit Sign:

o Install 1 emergency exit sign above the door for clear visibility and compliance with safety codes.

2. Transformer Relocation:

o Pour a 4’ by 4’ by 6” concrete pad to relocate the existing transformer , which is currently set up on cinder blocks (Figure 7).

o The liquid-tight flexible metal conduit will need to be reworked to accommodate the new transformer location.

o If the existing wire is not long enough for the relocation, new wire will be pulled and properly terminated at both ends.

o All THHN conductor sizing will be done in compliance with the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) to ensure safety and code compliance.

Pole Shed (Between L and K) - Real Property Inventory Number: 10020323

1. Outdoor Lighting Installation:

o Install 9 vapor-tight LED-ready light fixtures (purchased by the hatchery) across the interior three bays, with 3 light fixtures per bay to ensure proper lighting coverage.

o Replace old existing exterior lighting fixture on side of pole shed with a new LED exterior rated light with photocell.

o The LED bulbs and fixtures for inside the pole shed will be provided by the hatchery.

o The exterior LED light fixture with photocell will not be provided by the hatchery.

2. Raceway and Fittings:

o Install a ½” raceway with bell boxes to house the wiring.

o All fittings and connections will be raintight, ensuring they meet weather-resistant standards.

3. Switching Location:

o The location of the light switches will be determined by the hatchery staff prior to the start of the project, allowing for proper placement based on site needs.

Building K - Real Property Inventory Number: 10049551

1. Exterior Lighting:

o Install 2 LED exterior wall pack lights with photocells above the two exterior man doors of Building K.

o These 2 LED wall pack lights with photocells will be provided by the hatchery.

2. Emergency Exit Lights:

o Install emergency exit lights inside the building, above the two exterior man doors, ensuring they meet safety code requirements.

Timeline and Deliverables:

• Project Phases: The project will be divided into several stages, including pre-construction, electrical installation, and post-installation testing and inspection.

• Estimated Completion Date: TBD based on contractor availability and scheduling.

Safety and Compliance:

• All work will comply with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local building codes.

• All electrical installations will include safety inspections to ensure compliance.

• Proper hazard identification and worksite safety measures will be implemented.
