Cottonwood Day School
STATEMENT OF WORK
Educational Consultant- Parent Training
INTRODUCTION:
Vendor that specializes in servicing schools with significant populations of Indian students by providing:
• Navajo Speaker on the consultant team
*Common Core Standards-Based Tools for Teachers and Parents
*Cultural Curriculum Development Training Parents and Teachers
*Parent Training Special Education: IEP, Parental Rights, IEP and Determination of Disabilities
Brain Education and Student Behavior
*Parent taking responsibility in the children education with virtual learning.
*Taking ownership of their children's education at home through health and environmental crisis.
One of the primary goals of SEC is to provide services to schools while incorporating input from the local communities they serve. SECs mission is to assist schools with the development of tools to address current issues such as making Adequate Yearly Progress and increasing parent and community involvement.
Vendor will work with the school staff and families of Cottonwood Day School, including surrounding communities to optimize the progress of all students. Vendor will motivate delivery passionate educational activities and training for all individuals to attend the training and workshops throughout the school year at
Cottonwood Day School.
PURPOSE OF SERVICES:
Cottonwood Day School is a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) operated school under Arizona Navajo
Central Agency, Chinle Arizona. The school operates a Day School serving approximately 250 students.
Cottonwood Day School special education program serve an estimate of 10% of the enrollment are identified as student with disabilities. The disabilities of students are Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech and Language
Impairment, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, Hearing Impairment, and Mental
Retardation. Vendor will provide information to parents and educators on how to assist student at home and school with their educational needs. The parents who attend the training or workshop will take home learning products of math, reading and writing for their students. The trainings and workshops are not only for parents with disable stu dents. The training and workshops is for all parents who are interested to learn new strategies to use at home for their children to improve in academics.
Under the P.L 102-119 Individual with Disabilities Education (IDEA) requires that the schools provide training for parents, school staff and surrounding community about the special education laws for the teacher, staff, parents and community members become aware of the special education populations and their rights in the society. So the student with disabilities and their parents become productive citizens in their community.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Vendor will provide Training on Topics for Staff Development and Parent Training as selected by the school. The following services will be provided in the scope of work;
1. Identify and hire presenters who can offer the topics requested by the school.
2. Schedule trainers to be on-site at the School prior to staff development sessions starting at 3:00 PM and remaining on site for the accompanying parent training beginning at 4:30pm. Brief trainers on expectations for the sessions at the school.
3. ·Trainers providing sessions between 3:00-4:00 pm on selected Thursdays for staff and 4:30-6:00 pm the same day for parent s. Virtual Training when necessary throughout the school.
4. Distribute, collect and summarize evaluations from all sessions.
5. Provide summary to school administration.
WORK STATION:
Vendor will provide training for school staff, parents and surrounding communities at
Cottonwood Day School, with the special education program. Vendor will provide estimate of 6 contact days, if necessary the contract will be extended with the necessary documentation to extend the contract of services with Cottonwood Day School.
SECURITY:
Vendor is required to have received the security clearance through the Bureau of Indian Education-Security Office.
Financial Requirements:
It is mandatory for the services providers: Vendor is to submit an invoice after each day of therapy services at Cottonwood Day School. The finance office of the Bureau of Indian Education/ Bureau of Indian Affairs have mandated all services providers submit service invoice after each service dates, to assist Cottonwood Day School to manage the ISEP and Part B funding to meet the monthly status reports of expenditures of the special education program at Cottonwood Day School.
PERIOD OF PEFFORMANCE:
Required 11 days contractual services from September 1, 2021, thru July 30, 2022, the school year 2021/2022, applying for at Cottonwood Day School special education program provides Extended School
Year (ESY) parent summer training.
