About this file
This is a project manual for the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center Residing and Painting Project, issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Midwest Region, Infrastructure Management Division.
The project involves comprehensive exterior renovation work including: (1) complete removal and replacement of existing vertical wood siding in Area A with new vertical metal panels to match existing panels on the south and west sides; (2) removal and replacement of wood cedar shake siding in Area B with new fiber cement "Hardie Board" siding that will be painted; (3) removal and replacement of plywood sheathing, vapor barriers, metal furring strips, and damaged insulation in both areas; (4) removal of existing paint from exterior stucco siding, selected doors and frames, and painted steel channels, followed by priming and painting with government-selected colors; and (5) careful removal, storage, and reinstallation of Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge signage during the work. The project includes Bid Additive #1 as an option to use vertical metal siding instead of fiber cement siding in Area B. The manual contains detailed technical specifications covering demolition, thermal insulation, weather barriers, metal wall panels, fiber-cement siding, sheet metal flashing and trim, joint sealants, and exterior painting, along with comprehensive administrative requirements for submittals, payment procedures, project coordination, construction progress documentation, quality requirements, and project closeout procedures.
