1. GENERAL
1.1 Scope of Work
The Work in this contract will replace sewer mains of four houses located in Battle Mountain, NV. The repair shall consist of total replacement of pipe connections to main sewer lines, and treatment of the soil surrounding the pipe connections to prevent or slow down the infiltration of roots into the sewer lines. Obtain all required/needed permits from City and County to repair the sewer lines’ connections of these houses to main sewer lines. Excavate all materials down to the connections, approximately five feet, as needed to replace and repair the damaged pipes and connections. All requirements and regulations of City, County, and OSHA must be followed to accomplish this work appropriately and safely. Remove the existing sewer line where needed and place a new sewer pipe on properly placed bedding. Appropriately inspect and test the newly placed connections. Repair or replace any leakage, damaged, or broken sections or connections as needed. Backfill the excavation with appropriate materials and compact properly. Contractor shall have full use of areas needed to perform the work. Contractor shall repair/restore surface landscaping/appearance to match conditions prior to construction disturbance, and all paved and gravel streets shall be repaired to the satisfaction of the City. Schedule and sequence operations necessary to complete the work.
1.2 Background
Houses located at 110, 127, 150, and 190 of Watt Street were constructed in 1960s. For more details of the construction review the construction plans. In early 2021, the video inspection of sewer lines/pipes connecting the houses located at 110, 127, 150, and 190 on Watt Street to main sewer lines indicted root growths at connections to main sewer lines in the alley. Contractors planning to bid on the project are highly encouraged to inspect and verify all provided information in the contract documents. Video of the pipe inspections are available for viewing. There are no as-built plans. The original sewer lines were replaced with 4-inch diameter ABS pipes approximately 20 years ago. However, due to growth of roots and lack of regular and routine maintenance the lines are in need of repair. Time, usage, growth of roots into pipes, below surface adverse condition, and elements have deteriorated the existing sewer line to where the sewer line is in need of replacement of connections to main sewer lines in the alley.
