STATEMENT OF WORK

Painting Interior Walls, Ceiling, and Cleaning and Sealing Exterior Laminated Beams at Corinth Interpretive Center

1. SCOPE OF WORK: Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to paint the interior drywall walls and ceiling as well as cleaning and sealing exterior laminated beams at the Corinth Interpretive Center.

2. PRINCIPLE ITEMS OF WORK: Project consists of painting approximately 10,500 square feet of drywall interior walls and ceiling. These walls and ceilings were initially painted when the center opened in 2004 and are in need of refreshing. Walls shall be repaired where and if any holes or cracks exist, sanded, primed in areas of repair, and painted using two coats of quality Sherwin Williams or equivalent latex paint.

Exterior laminated beams shall also be cleaned and then sealed with waterproofing quality sealer. Approximately 350 linear feet of beams shall be cleaned and sealed. Some exterior beams are located inside the courtyard area so proper lifts or scaffolding may need to be used. Care shall be taken to keep sealer from getting onto exterior glass, bricks, sidewalk, or windows.

All exterior beams shall be cleaned or pressure washed prior to sealing.

Any peeling paint will be scraped and area primed before painting.

Painting and sealing will be brush or roller to limit overspray potential.

Apply finish material when temperature is 50 degrees F or above. Do not apply exterior materials in damp, rainy weather.

Use only high quality, non-shrink materials which have been approved for filling compounds.

The park will choose what colors to be used on all wall, ceilings, and beams.

The park will be responsible for moving of materials and furniture for interior painting.

Clean-up of work areas shall be performed daily before leaving. Immediately remove all paint, stain, or other finish material where it has spilled or spattered. Do not allow spills or spatters to dry before clean up.

3. LOCATION: Corinth Interpretive Center, 501 West Linden Street, Corinth Mississippi 38834. Site visit is recommended.

The Contractor is responsible for all measurements.

The Contractor shall perform work according to code and that meet manufacturer’s written instructions.

The Contractor shall provide submittals of all materials proposed for the project, product data and samples, and shall receive approval for each one prior to any onsite work taking place.

The Contractor is responsible for the complete removal and disposal of any construction debris and all debris shall be disposed of in a state approved disposal area.

The Contractor shall follow all safety procedures. Temporary fencing or flagging of work area may be required.

The contractor shall coordinate the schedule with the contracting officer representative so he can inform visitors about times that work will be accomplished. The work days and hours shall be Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm. Flexible hours may be discussed with the contracting officer representative if the need arises.

4. TURF PROTECTION: Contractor shall take precautions not to rut or damage the mowed areas during work of this project. Contractor shall correct any damage to turf caused by rutting.

5. MATERIALS, WORKMANSHIP, AND EQUIPMENT: Whenever not explicitly described in these specifications, all materials, workmanship, and equipment used in carrying out the work shall be of the best of the respective grades and qualities. The contractor shall provide adequate supervision and sufficient labor and equipment for prosecuting the work to full completion in the manner and within the time required by the contract.

a. Workmen. All workmen shall have sufficient skill and experience to properly perform the work assigned to them. Any foreman or workman employed by the contractor or by any subcontractor who, in the opinion of the contracting officer, does not perform his work satisfactorily and in a skillful manner or is disrespectful, intemperate, disorderly, or otherwise objectionable, shall, on the written request of the contracting officer, be removed immediately by the contractor or subcontractor employing such person and he shall not be employed again on any portion of the work without the written consent of the contracting officer.

b. Equipment. All equipment used shall be of sufficient size and in good mechanical condition to meet the requirements of the work and to produce a satisfactory quality of work. The contracting officer may order the removal, and require replacement of any unsatisfactory equipment. Should the contractor fail to furnish suitable and sufficient equipment for the satisfactory prosecution of the work, the contracting officer may withhold payment of estimates which are or may become due, or may suspend the work until such equipment has been provided.

6. CONTRACTOR TO BE PRESENT OR REPRESENTED: The contractor shall either be personally present on the job site or be represented thereon by a responsible agent to be designated in writing by the contractor, who shall have full authority to act for him in all cases and carry out any instructions relative to the work which may be given by the contracting officer, either personally or through an authorized representative. The contractor's agent shall not be changed during the life of the contract without the written approval of the contracting officer.

7. LEGAL RESTRICTIONS AND PERMITS: The contractor shall be familiar with, and shall observe and comply with, all Federal, State, and local laws, park regulations, safety laws, building and construction codes, and ordinances and regulations in any manner affecting the conduct of the work.

The contractor shall procure all necessary licenses and permits and shall give due and adequate notices necessary to the due and lawful prosecution of the work.

Trucks and other heavy equipment shall be confined to the limits of the project parking areas.

8. PROTECTION AND RESTORATION OF PROPERTY: The contractor shall be responsible for the preservation from injury or damage, resulting directly or indirectly from the execution of the work, of all public and private property along and adjacent to the parkway. He shall use every precaution necessary to prevent damage to pipes, conduits, and other underground structures; also, all overhead structures such as wires, cables, etc.; and poles, trees, shrubbery and crops, within or outside of the right-of-way. Any utility lines damaged by the contractor shall be repaired at once at the contractor’s expense. All trails and roads adjacent to or intersecting the project shall be protected from damage.

When any direct or indirect damage or injury is done to public or private property due to an act, omission, neglect, or misconduct in the execution of the work, or in consequence of the non-execution thereof, on the part of the contractor, the contractor shall restore or have restored the property at his expense. The restoration shall be completed to a condition equal to before such damage or injury was done.

The contractor shall not file any suites, actions, or claims against the Government and its representatives due to any injuries or damages sustained by any person or property due to consequence of neglect in safeguarding the work, using unacceptable materials in the work, or because of any act or omission by the said contractor or his employees. The contractor shall not file any suits, actions, or claims against the Government and its representatives arising under the Workmen's Compensation laws or any other law, bylaw, ordinance, regulations, order, or decree. During the prosecution of the work, the contractor shall be responsible for injury or damage to any person or property resulting from an act, omission, neglect, or misconduct in the manner or method of executing said work satisfactorily, due to the nonexecution of said work at any time, or due to defective work or materials.

There shall be no personal liability upon the contracting officer, the designated representative, or upon Government agents or Government employees for any act performed in the discharge of any duty imposed or the exercise of any power or authority conferred upon them within the scope of the contract. In all such matters they act solely as agents and representatives of the Government.

9. TIME FOR COMPLETION: The contractor shall complete this project within 60 calendar days. Please note this may be adjusted due to the weather for the exterior cleaning and sealing requirement.

10. TRAFFIC CONTROL: Traffic control of site shall be coordinated with the contracting officers representative to reduce visitor interaction within work zones. All buildings will remain open to visitors during this contract. Fencing, signage, and or flagging shall be used to identify work zones.
