Statement of Work for Gravel Purchase & Delivery
SCOPE: This Statement of Work defines the work required to provide, deliver, and tailgate-spread or pile (as appropriate) road rock to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge (NWR).
1. Deliver 3861 tons of “Iowa DOT Class A Road Rock” to Union Slough NWR and tailgate-spread at a three-inch thickness down the 4.5-mile auto tour route (see attached map). Trucks will enter from both ends of the tour route for efficiency purposes and to minimize trips across a bridge. The exit end of the tour route is located on 330th St. and the entrance end is 1710 360th St. Titonka, IA.
2. The tour route will be prepped by the USFWS by June 19th. Delivery and tailgate-spreading will need to be completed between June 20, 2023 and June 30, 2023. The winning bidder will provide, deliver and tailgate-spread the road rock and the USFWS will pack after June 30, 2023.
3. If the winning bidder needs to stockpile road rock on site prior to tailgate-spreading it can be stockpiled at 1605 330th St. Burt, IA or 1710 360th St. Titonka, IA. Arrangements need to be made with the Refuge Manager before stockpiling is allowed.
4. If the auto tour route is completed with a 3-inch thickness and there is remaining road rock, it will be dumped a quarter mile south of the Union Slough NWR office or remain at the stockpile site.
5. A site visit is recommended. If requesting a site visit, please contact Ed Meendering at 515-928-2523 ext. 11 three days in advance.
Location: Auto Tour Route entrance is located at 1710 360th St. Titonka, IA 50480. The auto tour route is a 4.5-mile gravel road running south and exits on 330th St. in Kossuth County, IA.
Period Of Performance: Delivery will need to occur between June 26, 2023, and July10, 2023.
The winning bidder can stockpile road rock at 1605 330th St. Burt, IA or 1710 360th St. Titonka, IA as soon as the bid is awarded if needed.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, except on Federal Holidays. If the contractor wishes to work on the weekend, prior arrangements need to be made with the Refuge Manager.
