About this file

This is a detailed technical specification document for a 60" belt drive skid steer forestry disc mulcher. The specifications describe a self-propelled, hydraulically driven, front-mounted disc mulcher that operates forward of the front tires.

The key requirements include: a cutting head weighing 2,500 lbs with a 60" cutting width and 80" x 76" x 37" dimensions; capability to cut material up to 14" in diameter and mulch material up to 6" in diameter; heavy-duty steel housing made of ¼" grade-80 steel with 80,000 psi yield strength; 48 replaceable teeth including 4 frame-mounted teeth; a hydraulic system with 1" ID high pressure unrestricted hoses and a bent-axis, 2-speed, variable-displacement 107cc piston type motor; and quick detachable mounting brackets that attach to skid steer lift arms. The manufacturer must provide parts and operation manuals and guarantee the equipment against defects for one year.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR 60” BELT DRIVE SKID STEER FORESTRY DISC MULCHER

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

It is the purpose of the following specifications to describe a self-propelled, hydraulically driven, front mounted, disc mulcher, which will operate forward of the front tires. The unit will be of the manufacturer's current production model, meeting or exceeding the terms of these specifications. Unit(s) will be the manufacturer's most heavy-duty model available. The manufacturer will furnish parts and operation manuals for the unit(s) bid. The manufacturer will also guarantee the equipment against defects in workmanship and materials for a period of (1) year.

CUTTING HEAD

Yes Comply Yes / No

Explain Deviations

The cutting head will have a weight of 2,500 lbs and a cutting width of 60”. Actual dimensions will be 80” wide, 76” long and 37” high.

The cutting head will be capable of cutting material 14” in diameter and mulching material 6" in diameter.

A cutting head will be capable of cutting/mulching material with its entire bottom plane, in addition to its cutting edge.

Cutting head deck will have a heavy-duty steel housing of ¼” grade-80 with 80,000 psi yield strength, laminated to ½” thick in critical areas.

The deck shell includes full length skid shoes on inner and outer ends.

Bolt in replaceable liners will be strategically placed on the intake side of the cutters shell. Placement of these liners are in high wear areas to promote ease of maintenance and longevity of the cutters shell.

The cutting head will be a 60" solid 1" thick steel disk with (48) replaceable teeth (including (4) frame mounted teeth), bolt protector, and center mounted cutter, and attach to the spindle by (8) 5/8" grade-8 bolts.

The deck shell will come equipped with a narrow intake chute, used for single stem trees.

A built-in toolbox will be incorporated into the cutters shell.

The deck shell will have integrated tie down points and serrations on both chutes for down-material control.

The rear chain guard will be single row 3/8”, fastened to weldment by a steel rod.

SPINDLE

Explain Deviations

The spindle will be one-piece 4140H heat treated steel, mounted in taper roller bearings.

Bearing journal diameters will be 3.54” lower and 3.15” upper.

MOUNTING SPECIFICATIONS

Explain Deviations

Mower deck mounting bracket will be of a quick detachable design.

Mower deck mounting bracket will attach in place of the bucket on the skid steer lift arms.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

Explain Deviations

Hydraulic oil pressure and return system hoses will be 1" ID high pressure unrestricted. Hydrualic hoses will have a burst pressure 4x working pressure.

Greaseable swivel fittings will be installed on the pressure and return hydrualic hoses. This allows for ease when connecting hoses to the carrier. Swivels aid in hydrualic hose life, prevent kinking, and chaffing.

Hydraulic motor will be bent-axis, 2-speed, variable-displacement 107cc piston type (specifically excluded will be gear motors, aluminum pumps, motors, and aluminum gears). The hydrualic motor shall be tuned to the carrier to achieve peak performance and productivity.

The hydraulic motor will be coupled with a cogged belt providing an approximately 2.60:1 ratio.

Hydraulic oil to the power center head will not pass through a restriction causing valve while operating the cutting head.

The skid steer hydraulic system will power the motor for the forestry disc mulcher.
