About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a herbicidal treatment project to remove invasive species within Colonial National Historical Park in Yorktown, Virginia. The project involves treating 8.76 acres across four locations: Tobacco Road (5.1 acres), Moore House (1.3 acres), Cornwallis Cave (1.85 acres), and Windmill Point (0.51 acres). The targeted invasive species include Golden Bamboo, Empress Trees, Chinese privet, Chinese Wisteria, and English Ivy, which will be treated with a 5% glyphosate solution mixed with non-ionic surfactant and blue dye using ground sprayer equipment.
The work must be performed in the spring when vegetation has resprouted, with a follow-up treatment 14 days after the initial application. Contractors are required to have a Certified Pesticide Applicator License from Virginia and must carefully apply the herbicide to avoid damaging surrounding vegetation. The project includes specific safety requirements, such as providing MUTCD-rated safety cones, managing equipment storage, and protecting archeological sites. The contract bid schedule allows for lump sum pricing for treatments at Tobacco Road/Moore House and Cornwallis Cave/Windmill Point, with work to be completed by September of the contract year.
