About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a solar photovoltaic system installation at the Loxahatchee Bunkhouse. The solar project requires a 12 kW-DC ground-mounted fixed array with four posts at a 12-degree tilt, including a battery system with 3.6 kW-AC max and 37 kWh-AC capacity. Key technical specifications include modules that must be listed on PVEL or RETC scorecards as "top performers", have a minimum 3.2 mm thick tempered glass, be Buy American Act compliant, and meet specific hail and wind rating requirements. The installation mandates precise technical standards for wire management, using metal wire hangers, matching manufacturer quick connects, and specific mounting techniques using WEEB bonding devices or rivets, with inverters and batteries to be located in ventilated or air-conditioned utility rooms to protect against environmental exposure.

Loxahatchee Bunkhouse - Solar

Basic Background – System Sizing and Type

1. Address

2. Minimum and Approximate System Sizing (kW-DC)

a. 12 kW-DC

3. Minimum and Approximate Ba ery Sizing

a. 3.6 kW-AC max

b. 37 kWh-AC capacity

4. Array type

a. Ground mounted fixed

b. Four post (front and back post) 12 deg lt

Module Selec on

1. Module must be listed on either PVEL or RETC scorecard “top performers”

a. Note “Tier 1 Modules” are not suitable subs tute.

b. Modules must meet Severe Hail Ra ngs from either of the following test standards.

i. PVEL – Hail Stress Sequence (HSS) -h ps://2022modulescorecard.pvel.com/hail-stress-sequence/

ii. RETC – Hail Durability Test (HDT) - h ps://retc-ca.com/news/category/Hail+Durability+Test

c. Module shall have a minimum 3.2 mm thick tempered glass. Non-tempered and or 2.2 mm or two layers of 2.2 mm is not allowed.

d. Modules shall be Buy American Act compliant as a commercially off the shelf

(COTS) product.

e. High wind environments must have a front minimum pressure ra ng of 5,400 pa.

i. Modules must be mounted on three rails with three contact points per side.

Wire Management

1. Under no circumstances can nylon-polymer plas c wire es be used to secure string wiring. Use of purpose-built metal wire hangers and bundlers must be used.

2. Field assembled quick connects (aka MC4 connectors) shall be of the same manufacturer and catalog number for male and female components. Quick connects shall be assembled using manufacturer’s instruc ons and tools.

Racking and fasteners

1. Ground mounted rack to be “four post” or rack with front and back post.

2. Rack to be designed using ASCE 7-22 using wind data for loca on.

3. Rack to have a minimum natural frequency (first fundamental) of 5 hz. from all direc ons and wind speeds.

4. Modules to be through bolted using WEEB bonding device, bolt, nut and cupped washer (aka Belleville) designed to maintain clamp load and prevent self-loosening.

Use of rivet (aka Huck) shall be permi ed.

5. Under no circumstances shall self-tapping sheet metal screws be used in module moun ng nor rack assemblies.

Inverters and ba eries

1. Inverters and ba eries shall be located away from direct exposure to sun, wind, rain and leafy debris. Ideally inverters and ba eries shall be located in u lity rooms that are ven lated or air condi oned.
