REQUIREMENTS

List of Salient Characteristics – Quantitative Molecular Diagnostics System for Detection of Pathogens in

Foods

The contractor shall provide:

1) A quantitative PCR Instrument that has the following minimum characteristics:

• 96 well formant to minimize user inputs and maximize sample throughput

• At least 6 independent, programmable temperature zones for sample analysis

• Calibrated for the molecular assays that use dyes FAMTM/SYBR® Green, VIC®/JOETM/HEX/TET, ABY/NEDTM/TAMRATM/Cy3®, JUN, ROXTM/Texas Red™, MUSTANG PURPLE, Cy®5/LIZ™

• Instrument provides 6 excitation filter wavelengths at 470, 520, 550, 580, 640, and 680 nm and 6 emission filter wavelengths at 520, 558, 587, 623, 682, and 711 nm.

• System has AOAC, USDA MLG, or NF Validated methods using commercially available test kits to detect Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter coli, Campylobacter lari, Cronobacter species, E. coli O157:H7, shiga toxin-producing E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria species, Salmonella species, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholera, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and Vibrio vulnificus in various food and water matrices.

• System comes with analysis software to run AOAC, USDA MLG, or NF validated test kits and outputs quantitative results

• System compatible with online primer design tool to develop novel molecular diagnostics assays in support of food and water safety research efforts

• Instrument factory-calibrated for optical and thermal accuracy

• Instrument excluding computers must have a footprint of less 45 cm x 55 cm x 30 cm

• Operate at relative humidity between 20-80% and temperatures from 15 to 30 Celsius.

2. Delivery Date: Contractor shall ship within 60 days of contract award

3. Invoicing: The Contractor shall bill after receipt of the deliverables.
