5. Reason for Authority Cited: WAMC Ophthalmology Department and the Operating Room has a requirement for consumables, disposables and accessories which operates on the Alcon Centurion®Vision System (ECN’s 085927, 085928) which was purchased under contract W91YTZ17P1939. Alcon Vision LLC provided a proprietary letter dated 08 November 2023 (see PCF cabinet W91YTZ24Q0004, folder A.02, Sole Source Justification) confirming it is the sole manufacturer and sole distributors of the centurion vision system which operates consumables, disposables and accessories. Although other vendors offer Phacoemulsification Systems, consumables, disposables and accessories, those items are not compatible and will not operate on the system currently used by WAMC. Failure to provide these supplies will result in the diminished healthcare of the patient.
6. Actions to Increase Competition: There is no effective competition expected for this requirement, however the solicitation will be posted to www.SAM.gov.
