About this file

This document is a Memorandum for Record detailing salient characteristics for an Audiometer Analyzer for the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Biomedical Engineering Division. The procurement specifies an Audiometer Calibration System (ACS-Model100/101-SA-3 or equal) with comprehensive associated equipment including a coupler, microphone, weight, artificial mastoid, calibration cavity, digital manometer, ear simulator, and stereo copper cables. The system must perform multiple advanced tests including audiometer acoustic and electrical tests, tympanometry, Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE), and free field testing, with a high frequency accuracy of < +/- 1.0 Hz.

The audiometer system offers three operational test modes: Manual (user controls all test parameters), User Controlled (automated frequency/level adjustments), and Fully Automatic (system controls entire test battery). The document requires serial or USB control depending on the mode, with the Fully Automatic mode demanding serial control. The procurement is being conducted by the U.S. Army Health Contracting Activity, Medical Readiness Contracting Office-Europe, with the document dated 16 May 2025, indicating this is a current/upcoming procurement for specialized medical diagnostic equipment.

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

SUBJECT: Salient Characteristics for Analyzer, Audiometer for Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Biomedical Engineering Division. - Brand name (ACS- Model100/101- SA-3) or equal product.

1. The completed package should contain main item and all associated equipment:

a. Main item: Audiometer Calibration System - 1ea

b. Associated equipment:

• Coupler, Microphone, and Weight -1 ea.

• Artificial Mastoid with Cable / Carry Case - 1 ea.

• Coupler Set - 1 ea.

• Calibration Cavity 2CC - 1 ea.

• Manometer 700 Digital Manometer - 1 ea.

• Ear-Simulator IEC 60318-4 711 - 1 ea.

• 10ft Stereo Oxygen Free Copper Gold Plated 1/4" Plugs - 1 ea.

2. Tests Performed:

a. Audiometer Acoustic Tests: These tests assess the audiometer's acoustic output, ensuring it's functioning correctly and calibrated accurately.

b. Audiometer Electrical Tests: These tests verify the electrical integrity of the audiometer, checking components like attenuators, switches, and outputs.

c. Tympanometer Tests: Tympanometry assesses the middle ear function by measuring the movement of the eardrum in response to changes in air pressure.

d. Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR): ABR measures the brain's response to sound, helping to identify potential issues in the auditory pathway.

e. Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE): OAE tests measure faint sounds produced by the inner ear, providing information about cochlear function.

f. Free Field Options: Indicates the ability to conduct testing in a sound-treated room, allowing for a more natural listening environment, especially important for young children.

g. Frequency Accuracy: A frequency accuracy of < +/- 1.0 Hz signifies high precision in the sound frequencies generated by the system, crucial for accurate testing.

3. Test Modes:

SUBJECT: Salient Characteristics Analyzer, Audiometer For Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Biomedical Engineering Division

a. Manual: This mode offers maximum control to the user, requiring them to set the frequency, level (intensity), and channel (left or right ear) for each test point. The system provides feedback, but the user makes all adjustments.

b. User Controlled (Automated): The system automates the frequency and level adjustments, increasing efficiency. The user still selects the specific tests to perform. This mode requires serial or USB control of the audiometer.

c. Fully Automatic (Automated): The system controls the entire test battery, including frequency, level, and channel selection. The user's only interaction is to change transducers (headphones, bone conductor, etc.) when prompted. This mode requires serial control of the audiometer.
