Sources Sought: Fabric Covered Truss Structure
The U.S. Forest Service is conducting market research to determine the acquisition strategy of the contemplated requirement. The determination of acquisition strategy for this requirement lies solely with the government and will be based on this market research and other information available to the government.
There is a contemplated requirement for:
A 35 ft. by 70 ft. fabric covered structure to temporarily house a 66 ft. wood crew boat. The scope of this Sources Sought is for the fabric truss structure only. As depicted in the attached conceptual sketches, the structure must have adequate clearstory to enclose the vessel’s superstructure, apart from the mast. The intent is to retain the mast for historic significance, allowing it to protrude from the top of the fabric structure. The height of the structure from the ground must be at least 24 ft. to accommodate the vessel’s superstructure.
This wooden Ranger Boat holds significant historic value to the Government and the intention is to place her on display for public viewing. The fabric structure must have removable viewing ports or panels on both sides to allow for public viewing from outside. Dimensions of the side panels should allow for viewing the mid third of the vessel’s main cabin. The end-panels are to be removable for summer display and easily replaced for winter protection. The internal truss structure must be engineered to withstand the wind and snow loads of Southeast Alaska. The final design of the footing anchoring system is pending.
FOB Destination of this structure will be Wrangell, Alaska.
