Brief Description
This is an entry-level position for an Economist with a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline and at least 2 years of relevant work experience (can include Master’s thesis work).
The overall duties and assignments of this position are similar to those at the 4A level, but are conducted in support of a Lead MCC Economist, with greater oversight and less independence.
This position is for an Economist with at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience (including thesis work), but the incumbent may have less direct experience in the duties assigned to the 3B level.
The overall duties and assignments of this position are similar to those at the 3B level, but are conducted with modest oversight by a Lead MCC Economist, with increasing independence.
The duties of this position resemble those of a Lead Economist in the Economic Analysis (EA) Division.
Candidates must have the requisite experience to provide technical input into compact development, threshold program design and/or implementation, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
Major Duties
Summary: Conducts research and analysis in support of activities within the EA Division and the Department of Policy and Evaluation (DPE).
Assists Lead Economists with the interpretation and application of economic analysis findings. Provides input to recommendations in a complex and critical area of economic analysis with recommendations for action within the area of assignment.

- Assists in the analysis of the primary constraints to growth in partner countries and the economics and policy frameworks in the sectors under consideration, and makes recommendations on sector requirements and reforms that will stimulate both public and private investment and optimize impact on productive assets.
- Provides input to evaluation of proposals of eligible countries and analyzes the quality of the economic logic in compact proposals including the potential impact on growth, implicit subsidies, economic return of proposed projects, and quantitative reasoning behind economic development proposals.
