About this file

This document is a technical specification, Section 01 57 19.01 30 Temporary Environmental Controls, for construction projects at properties under the control of the 18th Wing on Okinawa, Japan. It outlines the mandatory environmental compliance requirements and provides an overview for developing an Environmental Protection Plan (EPP).

The specification details the environmental regulations, definitions, prohibited materials, required submittals, quality assurance measures, and execution requirements related to environmental protection and pollution control during construction activities. Key elements include management of air emissions, water resources, hazardous materials/waste, solid waste, fuel storage, cultural resources, pesticides, asbestos, lead-based paint, and polychlorinated biphenyls. Contractors are required to appoint an Environmental Manager, provide employee training, and submit an EPP addressing the applicable environmental elements for the specific project scope. The EPP is a critical submittal that must be approved prior to the start of any work.
