The American Housing Survey (AHS) is designed to provide current information on the size and composition of the housing inventory, the characteristics of its occupants, changes in the inventory resulting from new construction, indicators of housing and neighborhood quality, and the characteristics of recent movers. This report consists of two sections of statistical tables. The first section shows the disposition of the stock that existed at the beginning of the period. The second section shows the sources of the stock as of the end of the period. The second reports (called CINCH Weighting Report) describes the process of developing the longitudinal CINCH weights. The CINCH database shows the statues of each AHS housing unit at the beginning and end of the period.
3. Rental Dynamics Report for the National Sample. This report traces the sources and disposition of the rental stock by affordability class as well as movement into and out of the rental stock which takes the CINCH proves one step further by considering affordability changes in one portion of the housing stock.

Each year between two to three reports, each no more than 25 pages are produced. The exact topics are specified by HUD. Past examples of AHS technical reports include: https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/ahs.html#research
