Johnson Elementary School Renovations - Project Summary
This is a Scope of Work document for Johnson Elementary School Renovations located in Henrico, Virginia. The project involves comprehensive renovations to the existing 1959-constructed elementary school campus at 5600 Bethlehem Road, Henrico, Virginia, 23230. The Work encompasses modernization of the cafetorium, library, multipurpose building, and administrative offices, with updates to classroom buildings and site circulation improvements. A new main security entry of approximately 1,238 square feet will be added to the administration building, and a new public entrance will be constructed at the front of the school. The renovation scope includes selective demolition and abatement, masonry and interior partition construction, window replacement, roofing repair and replacement, accessibility modifications, life safety enhancements, interior finish alterations, and upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with modernization of the building energy management system. Site work includes reconfiguration of the parking area and bus loop with a new canopy, site lighting, fencing, grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, site utilities, driveways, paving, sidewalks, signage, landscaping, and a new public shared use path along the right of way.
The school will remain occupied during construction, requiring a phased construction approach with temporary modular classrooms to accommodate ongoing operations. All renovations will conform to modern accessibility standards and current code requirements. The document specifies that the project involves significant infrastructure and building system upgrades across multiple structures within the campus, with emphasis on creating improved circulation patterns, enhanced security measures, and updated educational and administrative spaces suitable for contemporary school operations.
