About this file
This is a bid proposal and contract document issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Transportation for an on-call guardrail hits repair project in the Bristol District. The project encompasses various locations throughout the district and requires prequalification for bidders. The contract involves the repair and replacement of guardrail systems and related components across multiple road segments. The scope of work includes approximately 40 line items covering various guardrail types (GR-MGS1, GR-MGS1A, GR-2, GR-10, and others), guardrail terminals, impact attenuators, median barriers, and associated installation and removal services. Quantities range significantly by item, from as few as 1 unit for impact attenuator maintenance and repair training to as many as 15,000 linear feet for removing existing guardrail. The bid submission deadline was 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with an electronic filing requirement through the Bidx platform. The contract completion date is July 26, 2027, indicating a 13-month project duration.
Bidders must submit unit prices for all items listed in the proposal schedule, and all bids require a proposal guaranty bond equal to five percent of the total bid dollar value. The project includes specialized bid items designated as "ATTD" (attached specifications) and standard items designated with specification numbers, primarily falling under Section 505 (guardrail work) and Section 512 (impact attenuator services). Subcontractor and supplier information must be submitted within ten business days after bid opening, with all bidders, including SWAM (Small, Women-owned, and Minority) firms bidding as prime contractors, required to complete solicitation and utilization forms. The contract is District-wide in scope with no Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funding indicated. Bidders must certify they have examined project plans, specifications, work locations, and material sources, and that they meet all prequalification requirements established by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
