About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of XIMEA hyperspectral imaging equipment and accessories by NASA.

NASA requires hyperspectral imaging capability to collect and analyze spectral signature data across visible and near-infrared bands for material classification, target characterization, and surface analysis. Conventional RGB imaging cannot provide the necessary spectral resolution. The requirement specifies snapshot mosaic sensors rather than push broom or filter-wheel designs due to applications involving moving platforms, dynamic scenes, or single-exposure capture requirements. Two complementary camera units are required to provide continuous spectral coverage.

The Statement of Work specifies procurement of the following items: one Qty 1 MQ022HG-IM-SM4X4-7VIS3 xiSpec hyperspectral camera with 4×4 snapshot mosaic covering 460–600 nm (visible spectrum); one Qty 1 MQ022HG-IM-SM5X5-7NIR2 xiSpec camera with 5×5 snapshot mosaic covering 665–960 nm (near-infrared); two USB 3.0 cables (3.0 m with thumbscrew locking connectors); and two xiSpec2 starter kits that include 35 mm VIS/NIR lenses, diffuse reflectance targets, mini tripods, USB adapters, trigger I/O cables (5 m minimum), and protective PELI transport cases. All items must feature IMEC snapshot mosaic hyperspectral sensors based on CMOSIS CMV2000 imagers with global shutters, USB 3.0 micro-B connectors, and manufacturer-provided SDK/API and drivers at no additional cost. Delivery shall occur at the earliest date available from the vendor, with the vendor providing the soonest achievable delivery date in their quotation. Warranty shall follow manufacturer's standard terms from the date of acceptance.

Statement of Work

Ximea Hyperspectral Cameras

A. Background/History of Requirement:

NASA requires hyperspectral imaging capability, specifically the collection and analysis of spectral signature data across the visible and near-infrared bands. Conventional RGB imaging cannot resolve the spectral information needed for [material classification / target characterization / vegetation or surface analysis — specify]. Snapshot mosaic sensors are required rather than push broom or filter-wheel designs because the application involves [moving platforms / dynamic scenes / single-exposure capture], which precludes scanning-based acquisition. Two complementary units are required to provide continuous coverage across the visible and near-infrared ranges.

B. Description of item(s) to be purchased:

XIMEA hyperspectral cameras and accessories, as follows:

• Qty 1 — MQ022HG-IM-SM4X4-7VIS3, xiSpec hyperspectral USB3 micro-B camera, 4×4 snapshot mosaic, 460–600 nm (VIS), IMEC sensor based on CMOSIS CMV2000, global shutter CMOS; includes USB stick and four M2 screws

• Qty 1 — MQ022HG-IM-SM5X5-7NIR2, xiSpec hyperspectral USB3 micro-B camera, 5×5 snapshot mosaic, 665–960 nm (NIR Generation 2), IMEC sensor based on CMOSIS CMV2000, global shutter CMOS; includes USB stick and four M2 screws

• Qty 2 — CBL-U3-3M0, USB 3.0 cable, 3.0 m, thumbscrew locking connector

• Qty 2 — XISPEC2-KIT-7-35-TILE-TRI, xiSpec2 starter/demo kit (xiQ-S7) — includes 35 mm

VIS/NIR lens, Lite diffuse reflectance target, mini tripod, PH00 screwdriver, USB3 Type-C OTG adapter, tripod bracket, 3.0 m USB 3.0 cable, 5 m trigger I/O cable, and PELI transport case

C. Requirements Specifications:

Items shall meet or exceed the following:

• Sensor technology: IMEC snapshot mosaic hyperspectral sensors, single-exposure spectral capture (no scanning or filter wheel), based on the CMOSIS CMV2000 imager

• Spectral coverage: One camera covering 460–600 nm via a 4×4 mosaic (16 bands); one camera covering 665–960 nm via a 5×5 mosaic (25 bands)

• Shutter: Global shutter on both cameras, required for imaging of moving targets or from a moving platform without spatial distortion

• Interface: USB 3.0, micro-B connector; locking-thumbscrew cables required to prevent disconnection under vibration or cable strain

• Optics: 35 mm focal length lens compatible with both VIS and NIR bands

• Calibration support: Diffuse reflectance target required for white referencing and radiometric normalization

• Synchronization: Trigger I/O cable, minimum 5 m, to support externally triggered and multi-camera synchronized acquisition

• Mounting and transport: Tripod bracket, mini tripod, and protective transport case per unit

• Software: Manufacturer SDK/API and camera drivers included at no additional cost

3. Period of Performance:

Delivery shall be at the earliest date available from the vendor. Vendor shall provide the soonest achievable delivery date with quotation, and delivery shall be completed within that quoted timeframe after receipt of order (ARO). Warranty per manufacturer's standard terms from date of acceptance.
