Statement of Work (SOW) for InRoDES Thrust Chamber Hardware
This is a Statement of Work for the fabrication and post-processing of additively manufactured hardware for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) as part of the InRoDES project. The work focuses on producing power bed fusion components that meet NASA's specific production requirements for thrust chamber hardware.
The statement outlines two primary tasks: Task 1 requires the vendor to produce additively manufactured chamber and injector hardware using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) with a 400x400x400 mm build volume, with all designs supplied by NASA engineers prior to production. Task 2 mandates comprehensive post-processing including powder removal, wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), vacuum nucleation for internal cleanliness, and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) at a qualified facility, performed in a specified sequence.
Specific technical requirements include: GRCop-42 material must be sourced exclusively from Linde Advanced Materials Technologies Inc. and Powder Alloy Corporation with full traceability; minimum as-built density of 99.2% prior to post-processing; monolithic build integrity with no witness lines or restart evidence; powder removal completed within two weeks of build completion; surface finish delivered as-built (200-600 micro-inches) without media blasting unless explicitly approved by NASA; and all passages must be 100% free of powder upon delivery. Additional requirements mandate vendor ITAR compliance through Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) registration, comprehensive quality documentation compliant with AS9100 or ISO9001, delivery to MSFC within eight weeks of official build start, and compliance with NASA inspection protocols including Computer Tomography scanning when required, which does not count toward the eight-week delivery period.
Hardware must be shipped to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Central Receiving, Building 4631, Huntsville, Alabama 35812.
