About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of Cavitar Cavilux HF laser systems for NASA Langley Research Center. The contractor must supply two Cavitar Cavilux HF Gen2 control units and two Cavitar Cavilux HF laser units operating at 300 W power with a visible wavelength of 650 nm. The systems must support pulse widths as low as 50 nanoseconds, pulse rates up to 400 kHz, and synchronization with existing Cavitar equipment through USB-connected control interfaces. The first control unit must be capable of controlling up to four laser units simultaneously for multi-camera imaging operations. The purchase must also include two fiber-style laser light guides, appropriate data and power cables, two pairs of laser safety eyewear, and two carrying cases.
The hardware will support background-oriented schlieren, tomographic background-oriented schlieren, and self-aligned focusing schlieren imaging systems. The contractor is responsible for shipping all equipment to NASA Langley Research Center by December 1, 2026. CITR and LF44A approvals have been obtained for this purchase and are included in the procurement request submission. No milestones, government-furnished property, or government-furnished information are specified for this contract.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1.0 Introduction/Background: A Cavitar Cavilux HF laser system operating at 300 W of power and at a visible wavelength of 650 nm is required to provide pulsed, incoherent laser illumination for background-oriented schlieren, tomographic background-oriented schlieren, and self-aligned focusing schlieren imaging systems. The output of these systems must be capable of operating with pulse widths as low as 50 ns while maintaining 300 W power, be capable of supporting pulse rates of up to 400 kHz while maintaining 300 W power, and must be able to synchronize with our existing Cavitar Cavilux HF and Smart illumination systems while using the same USB-connected control interface. The first control unit for the Cavilux HF system provided in this PR must be capable of controlling up to four (x4) Cavilux HF Gen2 laser units simultaneously to support multi-camera imaging operation. A second Cavilux HF control unit and laser unit are also required to bring support additional imaging systems. In total the PR must include a total of two (x2) Cavitar Cavilux HF Gen2 control units and two (x2) Cavitar Cavilux HF laser units.
Two pairs of appropriate laser safety eyewear and a two carrying cases are also required as part of this purchase.
2.0 Scope of Work: The vendor must supply the following items to ensure compatibility with our existing system (wavelengths, power, synchronization, operating frequency, and Cavilux HF computer software). The final purchase must include: two (x2) Cavitar Cavilux HF Gen2 control units and two (x2) Cavitar Cavilux HF laser units, two (x2) fiber-style laser light guides, appropriate data and power cables, two additional pairs of appropriate laser safety eyewear, and a two carrying cases are also required as part of this purchase.
3.0 Objectives: This purchase is required to support multi-camera imaging systems including background-oriented schlieren, tomographic background-oriented schlieren, and self-aligned focusing schlieren imaging systems.
4.0 Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks: The contractor shall provide the hardware described in Section 1.0 and 2.0 of this statement of work.
5.0 Deliverables: The contractor shall ship the hardware described in Section 1.0 and 2.0 of this statement of work to NASA Langley Research Center by 12/1/2026.
