About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for a NASA procurement of HR-2-AM alloy powder (Formulation II Mod 2). The vendor must deliver 500 pounds of NASA HR-2-AM powder within 12 weeks of procurement award.

The powder composition must conform to specified weight percentages for alloying elements, with nickel as the balance element and defined minimum and maximum ranges for iron (29.30-30.70%), chromium (14.90-16.10%), cobalt (3.80-4.20%), molybdenum (2.80-3.20%), tungsten (3.00-3.40%), titanium (2.60-3.00%), and aluminum (0.20-0.30%). Impurity limits are established for sulfur, phosphorus, carbon, silicon, boron, manganese, hydrogen (less than 50 ppm), oxygen (less than 300 ppm), and nitrogen (less than 200 ppm). The particle size distribution must target the range of +325 mesh to 1250 mesh (45 micrometers to +10 micrometers), with particles greater than +325 mesh limited to 1.0 weight percent per ASTM B214 and particles smaller than 10 micrometers limited to 2.0 cumulative volume percent per ASTM B822. The powder must be primarily spherical in shape, free of significant satellite particles, and have smooth surfaces.
