About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) contract with Nano OPS, Inc. for developing in situ gas sensors using nanomaterials. The two-year project requires Nano OPS to optimize printing processes for functionalized carbon nanotube sensors capable of detecting carbon dioxide and methane, with a precise 2-micron alignment requirement that traditional printing techniques cannot achieve. Nano OPS will perform device fabrication, initial characterization, and provide sensor design input, with all work requiring prior approval from Dr. Ahmed Busnaina before delivery to NASA GSFC.
The work will be conducted at Nano OPS' facility in Burlington, MA, with the primary objective of increasing device yield and reliability for nanomaterials-based sensors meeting NASA's space application standards. The contract appears to be a sole-source procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), with NASA determining Nano OPS is uniquely qualified to assist in process and sensor development, specifically leveraging their pioneering direct assembly-based printing techniques.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is developing in situ gas sensors using nanomaterials (PI Mahmooda Sultana). Direct assembly-based printing techniques can increase the device yield and reliability for nanomaterials-based devices. For these devices an alignment precision of 2 micron is required, which is not possible with traditional printing techniques. Nano OPS, Inc. has pioneered the field of direct assembly-based printing techniques and is uniquely qualified to assist NASA GSFC with process and sensor development. The device fabrication, design, and characterization results need to meet the NASA GSFC requirements for space applications.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
Nano OPS, Inc. (CTO@nano-ops.net; www.nano-ops.net) shall perform the following duties:
Optimize the printing process for functionalized carbon nanotube sensors for carbon dioxide and methane using the specific design provided by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).
Perform initial device characterization before sending them to NASA-GSFC.
Provide input to the NASA GSFC team on sensor design.
GSFC team is responsible for providing relevant specifications needed by the Nano OPS partner for high quality printing. Any work performed by Nano OPS team must be approved by the Dr. Ahmed Busnaina, before being delivered to NASA GSFC.
3. Place of Performance The work will be performed at the Nano OPS facility in Burlington, MA. At 141 S.
Bedford St., Burlington, MA, 01803
4. Period of Performance The work will be performed over 2 years from the date of award.
