NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION
NASA SHARED SERVICES CENTER
RECOMMENDATION AND DETERMINATION TO SOLICIT FROM ONE SOURCE
OR BRAND NAME
Sole Source:
☒I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with National Marine Sanctuary Foundation only for providing a table at the Capitol Hill Ocean Week event. The total estimated cost of this effort is and the estimated period of performance or lead-time for delivery is June 4-6, 2024.
This recommendation is for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source/only one manufacture. Competition is impractical for the following reasons (please answer the questions below):
1. What are the reasons for soliciting only the suggested source/suggested brand name? Please provide the unique characteristics of the items or services along with the supporting rationale and the market research performed to substantiate your reason for the suggested source/brand name.
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is the organization that coordinates and carries out the CHOW event. There is no other vendor. Capitol Hill Ocean Week is a multi-day conference that convenes policymakers, scientists, managers, business leaders, conservationists, educators, students, and members of the public to engage in dialogue and debate on significant issues that impact our ocean and Great Lakes and to propose innovative policies and partnerships to address these issues. CHOW 2024 is open to the public and free to attendees. Considering recent launches by NASA, including PACE and SWOT, it is considered of importance to the new strategic Earth Science to Action plan of the Earth Science Division to participate in CHOW.
2. What is the impact to the government if another vendor/brand is used? Include any dollar, schedule, or compatibility impacts if possible.
There is no other vendor that could possibly be used to participate in this event.
