About this file

The document provided is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the purchase of a Massive Dimension Extruder, an industrial-scale polymer extrusion system, by the EM42 AM team at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The SOW indicates that this extruder is the only one currently on the market that meets the required size, feedstock, and customization capabilities for the team's in-space recycling development project.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Special Notice issued by NASA's Shared Services Center, seeking to award a sole source contract to TRIEX LLC for the Massive Dimension Extruder and related accessories. The government intends to acquire these commercial items and services using FAR Part 12 and 13 procedures. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to the identified point of contact by June 7, 2024, to be considered for a potential competitive procurement.

Statement of Work: Massive Dimension Extruder

Ilana Lu

4/29/24

This quote and intended purchase is entirely ODC to buy polymer extrusion equipment from manufacturer Massive Dimension. The original technical lead of the project performed extensive research and found that this extruder was the only one currently on the market that met the size requirements (capability and nozzle size), pellet feedstock, and availability to customize the unit beyond its off-the-shelf capabilities. The EM42 AM team at MSFC hopes to mount this to one of our custom gantry systems and use as a large-format polymer printer for in-space recycling development
