About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity to benchmark accelerometer calibration services for tri-axis, orthogonal, accelerometers named Angle Measurement Systems (AMS) used by NASA. The SOW requires the contractor to design and fabricate mounting hardware to integrate NASA-provided equipment, perform platform stability tests and sensor calibrations, and record detailed data according to a defined test schedule. Key requirements include aligning the calibration plate to the table axis system within 10 arc seconds, performing three sensor calibrations without removing the sensor, and demonstrating overall repeatability with one additional calibration set. The contractor must also adhere to specific sensor handling requirements. Deliverables include raw and processed data, as well as photo documentation. This SOW is related to a sole source federal contract opportunity titled "Angle Measurement Sensor Calibration Services Benchmarking" issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center.

Benchmarking Angle Measurement Capability

Task Overview:

This task will be used is to benchmark accelerometer calibration services for tri-axis, orthogonal, accelerometers named Angle Measurement Systems (AMS). NASA maintains several AMS units to perform high precision leveling and angle checks to support ground test facility activities. AMS units are quoted to provide better than 0.01-degrees accuracy.

Government Provided Equipment:

• Tri-Axis QA-2000 head.

• Keithley 2001 Series 7.5 Digit Digital Multimeter with 2000-SCAN card and pre-terminated cables.

• Keithley 2230-30-1G Triple Output Power Supply.

Task Description:

• Design and fabricate mounting hardware to mount NASA tri-axis head to contractor calibration system. Plate shall be designed to align sensor dowel pin to calibration table within 10 arc-seconds. Reference NASA drawing 1238526-A for tri-axis head mechanical interfaces.

• Integrate NASA provided Keithley 2001 multimeter into contractor data system using GPIB interface and government provided code. Contractor’s data acquisition system shall be used to acquire and record the data noted in Data recording requirements. Wires shall not be reconfigured on the multimeter or power supply; a pre-terminated 19-Pin Nanonic will be provided attached to multimeter and power supply.

• Contractor shall install the Government’s tri-axis accelerometer to test apparatus. The calibration plate shall be aligned to the table axis system within ±10 arc seconds for each axis.

• Contractor shall perform a platform stability test by recording measurements once with motors active and another with brakes applied. Data shall be recorded for 2 minutes at each of the following angles twice, once with motors active and another with brakes applied:

Points Pitch Roll 1 0 0 2 5 0 3 0 5 4 5 5

• Contractor shall perform three (3) sensor calibrations as defined by the Test Schedule without removing sensor or calibration hardware from the table. Calibration shall be performed in exact order as defined by schedule.

• Contractor shall reinstall the sensor and calibration hardware to table and then complete one calibration set as defined by the attached schedule to demonstrate overall repeatability.

Data recording requirements:

• Sensor shall be warmed up for 3 hours prior to any data being recorded.

• Data shall be recorded after table has stabilized at set point, at least 5 seconds after movement.

• At each point in the schedule a reading shall record the following:

12/5/2023 Page 2 of 4 o Time and Date of recording, o Reading and Code identification, o Tri-axis sensor measurements (6 signals: 3 accelerometers and 3 temperatures), o Calibration table position readout (2 to 3 readings, i.e., pitch, roll, yaw, or acceleration vector), o Lab temperature and humidity.

Sensor Handling Requirements:

• Sensor shall not be disconnected with power supply on; power supply should be off when connecting and disconnecting sensor.

• Power supply shall only be set to 15 Volts for both channel 1 and 2.

• Sensor shall be handled with care to avoid drops or impacts.

• Sensor shall be shipped in provided pelican case secured by foam. Photo documentation shall be provided to document packing.

Deliverables:

• Raw and processed data at each angle position as noted in the experiment schedule.

• Photos and documentation of sensor alignment to table axis to illustrate installation accuracy.
