About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the Human Landing System (HLS) Plume Surface Interaction Ground Test project, which requires the installation of HEPA filters into six different locations inside the 60ft Vacuum Sphere Facility at the Langley Research Center.

The contractor shall produce 34 HEPA filters that are 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns and rated for 2000 CFM, with stainless steel frames and vacuum-approved silicone gaskets. The contractor shall also produce 8 custom filter frame assemblies for the sphere's diffusion pumps, in-bleed and vent adapters, lid, raised floor, and main intake. The contractor shall collaborate with the Langley test team to ensure accurate measurements, bolt patterns, placements, and fit of the components. The period of performance requires the contractor to design, develop, and deliver the required materials by August 2024.

The related federal contract opportunity is a sole source procurement for the 60ft Sphere HEPA Filters, which NASA intends to award to FILTRA-SYSTEMS COMPANY, LLC under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). The NAICS code for this procurement is 333998. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to the identified point of contact by 5/8/2024, after which the government will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements Human Landing System (HLS) Plume Surface Interaction Ground Test project requires HEPA filter installation into six different locations inside the 60ft Vacuum Sphere Facility. The HEPA filters are intended to protect the facility vacuum system from the entry of particulate matter during a test with lunar simulant ejecta inside the sphere at vacuum. Proposal/Bid will be chosen based on technical acceptance and past performance.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The contractor shall perform the following duties:
