1.0 GENERAL
1.1 Purpose
This statement of work (SOW) specifies the requirement for fabrication and delivery of the hardware needed to assemble the NASA Orion Crew Survival Systems’ (OCSS) Suit Urine Tank flight unit. The Suit Urine Tank is component of the Off-Nominal Waste Management (ONWM) System of the OCSS.
1.2 Background
The purpose of the OCSS Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) project is supply the critical hardware to protect the crew in off nominal or contingency situations experienced during the mission that are life-threatening. The flight hardware is estimated to be delivered to Orion for the Artemis-2 mission slated to launch in late 2024. The ONWM System is being developed as part of the OCSS GFE project for use during the Orion Artemis missions. During an off-nominal, cabin depressurization event, the crew could be required to stay inside their OCSS suit for up to 144 hours until they return to Earth. In order to remain safely inside for a long duration, an internal-suit waste management system is needed to handle human metabolic waste. The Suit Urine Tank is a component of the ONWM System and flight units are specifically needed for the Artemis-2 mission.
1.3 Scope of Effort
The Contractor shall provide the Suit Urine Tank Bottom and Top Shells required to complete the effort defined in this SOW. This effort shall include the work described in Sections 2, 3, and 4 of this SOW.
