About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the manufacture of multiple C-seals to be used in the Venus Mass Spectrometer (VMS) instrument of NASA's DAVINCI mission to Venus.

The SOW requires the manufacture of 20 C-seals with Vendor P/N 612R9G-0004-C and 50 C-seals with Vendor P/N 632R9G-0004-C. The C-seals must conform to Eaton's proprietary drawings and specifications, including ultra-thick gold plating per MIL-G-45204. The period of performance is 27 weeks for the 612R9G-0004-C seals and 17 weeks for the 632R9G-0004-C seals. All requested units, material certificates, and test reports must be delivered to Charles Malespin at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. No government-furnished equipment or information is provided. The work is to be performed at Eaton's facility in Beltsville, MD.

Statement of Work for Eaton Corp.

PR: _____________________

Background The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plans to launch a mission called DAVINCI to Venus to study the origin, evolution and present state of the planet. The Venus Mass Spectrometer (VMS) is an instrument in DAVINCI Descent Sphere (DS). In order for VMS to accomplish its sciences objectives, several different types of all-metal hermetic seals, called C-seals, with dimensions/coating optimized for use with GSFC mass spectrometers are required to seal multiple flanged interfaces on the Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (QMS) and gas processing system (GPS) assemblies. As such these C-seals have to be manufactured to the same quality/performance specifications as achieved for prior GSFC mass spectrometer developments, including the Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM), Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer (NGIMS) and the Mars Organic Molecule Analyzer (MOMA) developments.

Scope

- Manufacture multiple C-seals itemized below, all per Eaton specifications including the ultra-thick gold plating per MIL-G-45204:

o QTY = 20 Vendor P/N: 612R9G-0004-C o QTY = 50 Vendor P/N: 632R9G-0004-C

Requirements

Conformance to Eaton proprietary drawings for these specific C-seals, including ultra-thick gold plating per MIL-G-45204

All C-seals of the same type are to be manufactured in the same batch.

Material certificates to be supplied with the delivered parts.

Deliverables or Delivery Schedule Period of performance to commence ? with end date specific to each P/N. Specifically, those end dates are:

? : 612R9G-0004-C based on quoted 27 week delivery ? : 632R9G-0004-C Based on quoted 17 week delivery

All requested units of a given type + material certificates + any pertinent test reports/data shall be delivered to Charles Malespin (GSFC – Code 699) by the end of period of performance as specified above.
