Statement of Work for Machining Tensile, Creep, and Crack Growth Specimens

10/25/22

Machine totals of:

50 specimens to 4013195-001P001 in groups of at least 10 specimens, 50 specimens to creep_2.5in8rms in groups of at least 10 specimens, 25 specimens to NASAp188LCF in groups of at least 5 specimens, 16 specimens to NASA Kb in groups of at least 4 specimens

1) Please machine nickel-based disk superalloy tensile test specimens from supplied rectangular blanks as shown in Fig. 1. Use the dimensions of drawing 4013195-001P001, with 1/4-20UNF grip threads that are shot peened after machining. Please mask the gage section for protection during shot peening of the threads. Polish the gage section in the axial direction to 8 rms finish as per fatigue specimens.Groups of at least 10 specimens will be ordered at different times over the next 3 years. Please maintain and transcribe from the blank to the specimen the indicated identifications and provided orientation markings on each specimen end.

2) Please machine nickel-based superalloy creep test specimens from supplied rectangular blanks as shown in Fig. 1. Use the dimensions of drawing creep_2.5in8rms, with the gage section polished in the axial direction to 8 rms finish as per fatigue specimens. Groups of at least 10 specimens will be ordered at different times over the next 3 years. Please maintain and transcribe from the blank to the specimen the indicated identifications and provided orientation markings on each specimen end.

3) Please machine nickel-based disk superalloy crack growth specimens from supplied rectangular blanks as shown in Fig. 1. Use the dimensions of drawing NASAp188LCF, with the gage section polished in the axial direction to 8 rms finish. The threads will be shot peened, with the gage section protected from shot impacts. Groups of at least 5 specimens will be ordered at different times over the next 3 years. Please maintain and transcribe from the blank to the specimen the indicated identifications and provided orientation markings on each specimen end.

4) Please machine nickel-based disk superalloy crack growth specimens from supplied rectangular blanks as shown in Fig. 1. After inertia welding grip ends on each blank, use the dimensions of drawing NASA-Kb. The specimen will be oriented for locating the electro-discharge machined crack growth notch on the “>” face of each specimen. Groups of at least 4 specimens will be ordered at different times over the next 3 years. Please maintain and transcribe from the blank to the specimen the indicated identifications and provided orientation markings on each specimen end.

When each group of specimens is prepared, these specimens would then be shipped along with inspection data to NASA.

Please include in the quote the cost per specimen. Please also include other charges that will be applied including shipping and processing in this quote.

Figure 1. Layout for specimens in each type of rectangular superalloy blank.

Specimens will be scribed with identification on one end, and have the orientation markings such as “U” and “>“, which will be provided on ends of each blank. These will be transcribed to the same specimen ends, using markings with the same orientations.
