Statement of Work: Procurement of Space Suit Connectors and Hardware for NASA Exploration Missions

NASA Johnson Space Center

1. Purpose

This statement of work specifies the request for engineering support, hardware procurement, and any additional tasks as required to support NASA’s exploration missions in the Orion, Human Landing System (HLS) and xEVA/EHP programs. This necessary support could be required during the design and development phase of a project or be needed to fabricate and certify Class I flight hardware.

2. Background

The Space Suit and Crew Survival Systems branch is responsible for the design, development, test and provision of space suits and related equipment to support numerous upcoming NASA exploration missions.

The hardware will be used on the Orion spacecraft, on a lunar lander, on the lunar surface, or for ground needs. The range of environmental conditions or operational considerations may also vary. The branch is requesting the support necessary to develop robust designs, complete testing, document configurations, and gain confidence in using the fabricated hardware for those required missions.

3. Period of Performance: TBD

4. Scope of Work

The contract shall provide all resources to complete the requirements and deliverables below:

a. Design requirements and/or modifications of space suit hardware to support both prototype, flight-like, and flight hardware designs.

b. Space suit hardware analysis, testing and verification

c. Space suit hardware manufacturing and fabrication, for both prototype and flight

d. Related hardware documentation, including drawings, inspection reports, test reports

e. Status reporting

Any additional requirements will be detailed in the specific task orders as they are released.
