STATEMENT OF WORK

Integrated Communications and Switching System

15 October 2019

PR: _____________________

Background

NASA/GSFC requires a communications system that supports varying missions that will operate in space environments from Low Earth Orbit to

Cislunar distances.

NASA/GSFC requires an Engineering Design Unit (EDU) Integrated

Communications and Switching System that will interface with communication terminals to provide a low Space Weight and Power integrated unit that will be qualified to operate in a space environment.

NASA/GSFC has established a test lab for evaluating and experimenting with start of the art communications and networking technologies. The EDU will be integrated into the existing bench and the project will examine the feasibility of a commercial design capable of meeting requirements for a low

SWaP off the shelf product.

Scope

Integrate, test and deliver an Engineering Design Unit (EDU) Integrated

Communications and Switching System

Vendor shall deliver one complete EDU Integrated Communications and

Switching System.

Vendor shall provide all manuals required to knowledgeably interface to the hardware, and to operate the Integrated Communications and Switching

System

Requirements

The EDU Integrated Communications and Switching System shall be delivered in a single chassis

The EDU Integrated Communications and Switching System shall include the following capabilities:

o 2 x Software Defined Wideband RF Modems/Transceivers o 1 x Router/Switch capable of 640Gbps throughput o 2 x coherent optical modems

To verify router throughput o 1 x Controller processor

The EDU Integrated Communications and Switching System shall include a single chassis that meets the following SWaP requirements:

o Power < 450W o Weight <30Kg o Size 42x30x22 cm

Deliverables or Delivery Schedule

Vendor shall deliver one complete Integrated Communications and Switching

System which meets the requirements listed in the Requirements section, within 7 months from the date of award. This includes all the necessary hardware and software listed above.

Vendor shall deliver all manuals required to knowledgeably interface to the hardware, and to operate the Integrated Communications and Switching System within 7 months from the date of award.

The simulator shall be delivered to the following point of contact:

Richard Butler

Code 566 / Bldg 23 – E433
