About this file
This sources sought notice is soliciting capability statements from potential sources for the Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core (HyTEC) project. As part of the NASA Advanced Air Vehicles Program, NASA intends to collaborate with industry through a cost sharing arrangement to accelerate development of small turbofan engine core technologies. The goal is to demonstrate a 5-10% fuel burn benefit versus 2020 best-in-class engines for early 2030s single-aisle aircraft. Interested firms should submit documentation of their capabilities by October 28, 2020. NASA reserves the right to consider a small business, 8(a), woman-owned, veteran-owned, economically disadvantaged woman-owned small business, or HUBZone set-aside based on responses received. This notice is for information purposes only and does not constitute a commitment or solicitation by the government.

Text version
NASA Glenn Research Center (NASA GRC) is hereby soliciting information from potential sources for Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core (HyTEC).
NASA GRC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including all socioeconomic categories of Small Businesses and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI), for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for HyTEC. The Government reserves the right to consider a Small, 8(a), Women-owned (WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran (SD- VOSB), Economically Disadvantaged Women-owned Small Business (EDWOSB) or HUBZone business set-aside based on responses received.
As part of the NASA Advanced Air Vehicles Program (AAVP), a new project is being formulated called HyTEC in which NASA intends to collaborate with industry to accelerate the development of small turbofan engine core technologies, culminating in an advanced core demonstration in the 2026 timeframe. The HyTEC goal is to demonstrate increased thermal efficiency with integrated high power-density core engine technologies achieving a 5-10% fuel burn benefit, versus 2020 best in class, for early 2030s entry into service (EIS) single-aisle aircraft. In order to accomplish this, NASA intends to collaborate with industry in a cost sharing arrangement to accelerate technology maturation activities in key areas critical to strengthen the US industry position on small core for a future single aisle aircraft.
No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on beta.SAM.gov. Interested firms are responsible for monitoring this website for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.
Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references.
All responses shall be submitted electronically via email to Ashlee Shaw, Contracting Officer, via e-mail at ashlee.b.shaw@nasa.gov no later than Wednesday, October 28th, 2020, 4:30pm EST. Please reference 80GRC021SSN001- HyTEC in any response.
This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited.
Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement.
