About this file

This is an Industry Day Response Form template for the NASA Aeronautics Flight Accelerator (AFA) initiative. The form is designed for U.S.-based organizations to submit information regarding potential partnerships for research, development, and flight testing of aeronautics technologies. Responses are limited to two pages and should address four primary sections: Technology Concept/Overview (requesting descriptions of revolutionary approaches, system-level performance parameters, key technical objectives, and optional system diagrams); Economic factors (target market size, differentiators, and company locations); and Implementation details (expected investment magnitude, cost share percentages, prospective partners, desired NASA collaboration level, prior testing completed, and required funding with milestones). The form includes Table 1 for respondents to estimate proposer funding, required NASA funds, number of flight tests, and significant milestones across multiple performance periods from award through September 30, 2028.

The associated RFI was released April 7, 2026, with responses due May 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time. An Industry Day is scheduled for April 23, 2026, at the Ohio Aerospace Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, where selected entities may request 20-minute one-on-one sessions with NASA representatives. Organizations interested in one-on-one meetings must submit a two-page executive summary by April 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM Eastern Time and identify three preferred meeting time slots ranked by preference. There is no limit on the number of RFI responses a single entity may submit. NASA intends to use RFI responses to shape a potential competitive solicitation for cost-shared projects with flight demonstrations anticipated as early as fiscal year 2026 and no later than fiscal year 2028.

Aeronautics Flight Accelerator (AFA) Industry Day Response

Company/ Organization:
Revision:
Date:
Page: 1 (2 page limit)

The responses to the specific questions are imagined to be 1-5 sentences which can be expanded on in response to the RFI or at the industry day presentation if your company is selected to participate. The length of your submission must be no more than 2 pages total. Participation is limited to U.S.-based respondents.

Technology Concept/Overview

1)NASA seeks technologies, concepts, and flight test campaigns suitable for cost shared maturation leading to flight within the next three years. Briefly describe your revolutionary, rather than evolutionary approach to address that need and how NASA involvement supports maturation.
2)Identify system level performance parameters (design range, speed, payload, altitude) or subsystem operational requirements.

3) Identify key technical objectives.

4) Provide a top-level system diagram or picture (optional).

ECONOMIC

1) Describe the target market and estimated total market size, and identify differentiators relative to current solutions.

2) Identify company/ organization headquarters, research, and manufacturing locations.

IMPLEMENTAION

1) Provide expected investment magnitude, cost share percentage, prospective partners and partnership interest level, and any factors that may deter proposal submission.

2) Describe your desired level of NASA collaboration (see RFI section 6 for additional information on possibilities).

3) Briefly describe the prior simulation, ground testing, flight test and safety planning that has been completed to date.

4) Estimate the required funds and most significant milestone for each period in Table 1. Estimate the number of flight tests to be conducted in each period. If your project ends earlier than 9/30/28, feel free to delete the unused lines of the table.

5) Please submit a list of questions you want to ask NASA.
